2007 Audi RS4 Description

This vehicle is being sold for a fraction of the book value for a few reasons that I will outline in great detail below. I would like potential buyers to clearly understand that this sale is legitimate and that a mechanic and auto industry professional stands behind every statement about the condition and history of the vehicle.
This Audi RS4 drives very well, handles and accelerates the way it should. I will outline the major problems that will have to be resolved before the vehicle is in perfect operating order. I will also, of course, avail myself to the future owner of any information and knowledge about how to best go about attaining parts and service for the restoration process.
Transmission
The 6-speed transmission originally supplied to the RS4 was under-engineered and subsequently many of these models suffer from grinding gears. This car has a severe grind in 4 of 6 synchros, making the car very difficult to drive enjoyably. 2nd gear is unusable, and each subsequent gear grinds significantly. A company called JHM has developed an affordable and very sophisticated solution to the problem -- they have a synchro replacement kit that replaces each synchro with a brand new unit, while also lowering the 6th gear ratio for better gas mileage. The kit costs around $2000. A used transmission will cost around the same price on today's market, so it will be up to you as the buyer to decide what route will work best, at which point I will help you to iron out details etc.
Engine
This engine was replaced around 7k miles ago with a unit that had 70k miles on it at the time, so at present the engine has less than 80k miles on it. This is significant, because after 100k miles this car begins to develop carbon deposits at the intake manifold and intake valves; you have some time to prepare for an intake manifold/valve cleaning.
The engine light that is on is from an Oxygen Sensor that is likely burnt out or reading wrong. I can work with you to find that part and get the light turned off.
Interior
The front seats in this car have some wear; you may wish to re-upholster one or both seats at some point. While they are comfortable and generally presentable, a car enthusiast may wish for a more clean and modern look. I have reupholstered seats with alcantara before for a very sporty look -- this is another process that I can advise the future owner on.
Exterior
There are some scratches and worn trim pieces that, while they are not immediately noticeable and distressing to the average eye, would likely need to be addressed by a discerning car enthusiast. The paint bright and clean overall -- this car looks stunning when washed and waxed.
Wheels
The OEM RS4 wheels are highly worn and scratched -- they would need to be resurfaced or painted if the owner wished for them to look appropriate for the rest of the vehicle. I purchased Alzor wheels for the car; they are RS5 replicas and work well with the supplied ECS wheel spacers. They too, however, are not in great condition, and so may need to be replaced. I get excellent deals on these wheels from a former employer if the buyer wishes to replace a single wheel or all 4.
I wish to be utterly and completely transparent with this advertisement -- I am not looking to make money with the sale but rather to find a person who is up to the task of bringing life back to this extraordinary supersedan. With 450+ horsepower, AWD, a 6spd manual transmission and heart-stopping exhaust note, it deserves to go to someone that has the time and energy to address the details mentioned. The right buyer will end up with an incredibly versatile, rare, and beautiful vehicle for around half the market price.
