2001 BMW Z3 Description

This Z3 is a rare find; A 2001 BMW Z3 2.5i 5-speed with only 30,000 miles. It has only been driven under 2,000 miles a year as a “nice weather” 3rd car. A BMW enthusiast (Original Owner) owned it before me. I purchased it from a friend of the family who sold it for her. The Z3 has never slept outside a garage and not driven in rain.

The Z3 was ordered with Black Sapphire Metallic paint, an upgrade from the base black color. It also has the upgraded leather package in Oregon ”Black Classic Leather”. This package includes the leather dash top (not the usual plastic) and the tops of the doors are also in the matching leather. It has the power top and power seats. It has the bullet proof BMW 6 cyl (2.5i) with almost 200 hp and about 200 lb-ft torque, mated to the smooth shifting 5 speed. This is the same engine BMW used on the later Z4. It also has the factory wood console (not the “stick on” type). Plenty of civilized power and yet over 30 mpg on the highway. Cruise control, Ice Cold AC, stereo with CD, and remote locking. All BMW roundels are excellent.

Brand new tires were just installed and it was inspected and serviced with: synthetic oil and filter, power steering fluid replaced and brake fluid replaced. It needed nothing else. Another advantage: no timing belt…the Z3 has a durable timing chain, not a problematic belt. Everything works as it should on this car.

All Z3’s were produced in the Spartanburg, SC plant; one of only 2 auto plants to achieve unique quality ratings. This plant is known for a high quality product and even won the JD Power Quality Award.

I have the original Bill of Sale ($35,000) and all books and manuals. Some components still have the plastic on them. The tonneau cover is in new condition, as is the convertible top.

This is truly a 2001 time capsule. It drives like it looks, no rattles squeaks, leaks or problems. It was purchased new by a local doctor, then in Tennessee, who eventually moved to Naples where it was only driven 1,000 miles a year for the last 8 years and 2,000 a year on average over its entire life.

Frankly, I cannot think of anything the new owner will need to do other than drive it and keep it in this great condition as it appreciates in value. This was the last true roadster that BMW produced.

I think you get the picture of the condition and the care the Z3 has had. This car is a blast to drive and reliable. The ONLY reason I am selling it is that I have lost my storage and am unwilling to park it outside. I would prefer that this car go to an enthusiast who will care for it like it deserves. These cars will continue to appreciate and their investment value is as exciting as the driving experience. The mileage will increase, as I drive the car.
