1997 BMW 5-Series 528iA Description

Hello and thank you for looking at my auction. My name is Joe and I sell vehicles differently than most dealers. Buying your next car or truck through one of my NO RESERVE auctions is the best way to take the games out of your next automotive purchase. I personally road test each vehicle before it is offered for sale so I can give you my first hand opinion of how it runs and drives. Please keep in mind that I am not a mechanic. Each vehicle is represented accurately and honestly to the best of my knowledge and ability. Please take the time to read this entire description as well as our Terms & Conditions carefully BEFORE asking questions or placing a bid as most answers can be found in at least one of those places. An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of each auction. Up for a NO RESERVE auction is a 1997 BMW 528i. It has always been my opinion that the E39 chassis 5 Series is the best one BMW made. It has the perfect blend of old school BMW driving experience and modern luxury features. I would rate the exterior of this 528i to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for it's age and mileage. As you can see, this is a good looking sedan. It is finished in Jet Black over Black leather, which looks great. There are only two thing keeping this BMW from getting an "above average" rating. The first is that there is noticeable clear coat peeling off on the upward facing surfaces of the car. The second is a small dent over the LR fender...both of which are kind of hard to fault a 20 year old car for. Aside from that, the finish has a mile deep shine and looks as smooth as glass. All of the trim and moldings are present and show well. The body lines are nice and straight. The hood, doors and trunk all open and close easily. The outside latch release button for the trunk is broken so it must be opened from the inside release button. All of the glass and lenses are intact. The factory alloy wheels show well and are wrapped in nice rubber with good tread all around. Please take your time and check out each of the photos carefully to see how clean this 528i looks. It's obvious that the previous owner took great care of this BMW. I would rate the interior of this 528i to be in ABOVE AVERAGE CONDITION for it's age and mileage. The door cards are clean and tight. The carpets are clean and full looking throughout the interior. The dash and headliner are clean, too. This is a pretty well optioned E39. Both front seats are power operated and heated. This 528i also has the very rare heated steering wheel...which is heaven. The power windows, locks, seats and mirrors all work properly. The power sunroof does not work. The wood trim shows well for it's age. The audio system is original and sounds good. There is a factory CD changer in the trunk and steering wheel audio controls, too. Like with pretty much every BMW 5 and 7 Series made in the late 90 - early 00's, the cup holders are broken. The climate control system is fully automatic and appears to be working properly. I can tell you that the heater works perfectly. I believe the air conditioner is blowing cold, but I didn't have good enough weather to get a good read on it. The trunk is spacious and clean. The original tool kit is one of the most complete I've seen in a while. There are two keys, a full set of books and manuals...and even the original glove box flashlight. Like I said, someone took care of this car and it shows. Mechanically, this 528i appears to be in good running and driving condition. The 2.8L inline six cylinder engine starts easily and runs smoothly. I haven't noticed any leaks and the engine does not smoke. Her road manners are good for an older vehicle. The suspension feels tight and well sorted...which is impressive, considering how these cars are known to age. Steering and braking feel good. The engine keeps perfect temperature and feels strong. There have been no idiot lights on during my road test. The automatic transmission engages smoothly and shifts smoothly but doesn't always want to shift on it's own. You sometimes need to move the shifter from drive into 3 and back and it will shift. I haven't really taken the time to try and figure it out. I've personally driven this car, as I do every car, and I have had it in all four gears. Out on the highway, she drives nice and straight with absolutely no complaints. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
