2000 BMW 528i Touring (E39) - NO RESERVE
I am listing this car for my father, who is the original owner.
This BMW is a legitimate 1 owner car with 197,565 miles. This is a relatively rare car, as very few 5 series wagons were equipped with the manual transmission. A total of 5780 528iT wagons (1999-2000) were produced and 5458 525iT were built (2001-2003) and one could speculatethe number with a manual transmission were only a fraction of that.It was special ordered in 1999 and was picked up at the BMW dealership in Munich, Germany as part of BMW’s European delivery program. The car has been used as a daily driver for its nearly 17 years on the road and has been primarily driven in the Chicago area rust is evident in the photos.
The Basics: 528iT 5 speed manual transmission
Optional power “Comfort” seats
Grey interior with woodgrain trim.
Xenon headlamps
Sunroof
The Good: The engine runs solidly, and blows no smoke. The car has been maintained using factory fill Mobil 1 since new. Aside from routine oil changes, this engine has never been touched. Rims are in good shape and present well. Much of the interior is still in good shape, aside from the driver’s seat. Power seats, heated steering wheel, heated seats, power locks all work. Parking brake works Has its original tool kit and first aid kit, both unused.
Things that Need Attention: The clutch intermittently doesn’t work and the car will not go into gear. We aren’t mechanics, so I don’t want to speculate what the root cause is. The car retains its original clutch. Exhaust needs to be replaced – the exhaust pipe is disconnected The heater core needs replacement so the heater hoses have been clamped off. We have attempted to document all the noticeable rust on the body. There are some light oil leaks on the bottom side of the engine. The rust around the rear glass is extensive. We have stopped using the glass hatch window (which opens separately from full hatch) because the rust prevents the window from closing entirely at times. Front passenger side cupholder is broken, as are the rear cup holders. Photos attempt to document the level of tread depth on the tires. The date codes indicate the tires date to 2010 and 2011. The wear bars are quite evident, so I am making the basic claim that the tires hold air. Drivers side headlight is out. The instrument panel illuminates a few issues: Rear passenger side tail light is out. Air bag light is on – don’t know what the issue is. The hatch light stays on all the time even when the rear glass is secured. Load leveling light goes on and off, right now the light is on, making me think it is currently inoperable.
We encourage potential buyersarrange toinspect the car in personsince there is no way for us to fully describe the condition of the car.
