1957 cadillac fleetwood series 60 hardtop sedan project car
1957 Cadillac Fleetwood series 60 Description
For sale is my 1957 Cadillac Fleetwood Series 60 sedan hardtop. Odometer reads 44817. The car has been sitting for years. The last inspection sticker is from 1982 in PA. It needs a complete restoration. I never had the title, but it is not hard to get a title for something this old,I just never went through with it. Or it can be a parts car with many very rare parts, but it would be nice to see it redone.
The body is fairly solid overall. The only major rust is at the bottom of the rear doors, the front hood lip, the spare tire area, and some of the front floor pans. Other then that it is pretty solid and straight. The bumpers are solid. There are a couple of small trim pieces missing, but it is mostly complete. It is definitely a great restoration candidate, and not completely rusted out. All glass is intact. It has the gas cap under the rear tail light which is really cool. Some of the door hinges/latches stick and need to be freed up. Also someone broke into the trunk so the lock cylinder is missing but it still latches. The 4 original wheel covers are in the trunk.
The interior has most of the trim pieces and other rare parts, but it does need to be redone. Door panels are in bad condition but I think they are all there. The car had power windows; some moved slowly, some didn't do anything. Radio still powered on but speakers are shot so I cant say if it worked properly. Seats are there but in poor shape. Overall it is mostly complete but needs to be redone.
The original engine was locked up and I had planned on swapping in a 500 caddy engine. I removed the old drivetrai, but I do still have the original transmission and engine block (it it currently disassembled to assess it, and would need a complete rebuild) to go with the car if you want them. I will also include the 500 engine and th400 short tail trans I was going to install. Engine turns over fine,I never had it running. Trans shifted fine. Also includes brand new aluminum rear sump oil pan and rear pickup tube which are required to do the swap. I still have the original radiator and steering pump, as well as some other original engine parts. Most of the original wiring is still intact and it hasn't been modified. But it is ready to drop a new engine in and go. Previous owner said they rebuilt the master cylinder and the brake cylinders. The tires are shot and only hold air for a couple of hours. But it did roll smoothly when I towed it home on a dolly.
Overall it is a fairly solid car and a great restoration candidate. Get a replacement title and complete the enigne swap and you have an awesome car. Or use it for the parts, but it would be a shame to waste it like that in my opinion. It will need to be moved on a rollback or full car trailer as the tires do not hold air for long. It is sold as is, and it is a project car. But if completed it will be a beautiful cruiser again. Local pickup offered, buyer must arrange any shipping. I am not parting it out. Thanks for looking.
