1968 Chevrolet Impala Fastback
1968 Chevrolet Impala Description
Relisted due to timewaster!!!! You are bidding on my beloved 1968 Impala fastback. I bought this vehicle back in 2011, it was not in pretty shape. I took her home and used her daily to get to work and back. I replaced the old smokey motor with a rebuilt 350 v8 with 305 heads. I have the receipt to prove this. I have probably not driven more than 1500 miles on the rebuilt motor. I got her painted Chrysler black in 2013, it was an earl Sheib job for $450 but it looks a lot better than the primer grey that it was. Paint on the back is starting to fade, the Arizona sun is brutal on black cars.It drives, but it does not run as smooth as it should. I tried rebuilding the carb and I don't think I put it back together right. Once it's warned up its better, just very grumpy to start. It's a little shakey on the freeway, possibly a worn bushing or unbalanced wheel?? I drove it to the airport and back twice 4 years ago but I don't think I would now just because I stopped driving this car a while ago in hopes of getting her up to scratch, and then I had a child, and we all know how that goes! This is a great opportunity to own a rare fastback. It needs work though. What does she need to be up to scratch? Driver and passenger windows plus the hardware. Interior door panels. A damn good clean (the neighbors cats have called it home for a little while now). Some electrical wire tidy-up. Wipers and wiper motor. Spare wheel has no tire, there is no jack or tire iron either. All weather stripping. Front indicators. Most of the badges. Windshield trim. Maybe carpet. Horn does not work neither does interior light. Headlining has disappeared somewhere. I do have the air cleaner but lost the retaining nut. Exhausts are straight through with no mufflers, it's louder than an elephants fart. Sounds incredible though. Has some corrosion on rear parcel area and front of trunk.I'm sure there's plenty I missed so please call or email to find out more. The mileage is unknown-the title shows 122,000 but the odo shows 62,000. I don't know what the miles are.Tires have about 95% left on them, starter and alternator are about 2-3 years old.
I am selling this car because I have brought a different rare gem from England that I can use every day with my family. THIS IS A PROJECT CAR IT NEEDS WORK. I am in no rush to sell, I don't really want to sell it to be honest but need the space on my driveway. I just want someone else to fix her up like I wanted to. Look over all the pictures. It has been in Arizona for a while, although there is a small plate welded in the trunk, and the floor. Unless you live close to Peoria, Arizona, I would suggest using a trailor to take her home. Car is registered and currently on the road but I haven't used it for a long time. Please think before you bid. It's a real badass car that sounds really badass and gets the compliments, but it's going to take time and money, might make a cool rat-rod though. I love this car and will miss it dearly but it needs a new home rather than collecting dust on my driveway. Call or text 602-459-2206. Reserve is set so no low ball BS offers, this car is rare now and has value. Car is in Arizona, USA, eBay thinks I still live in England I guess??? UPDATE: I started her up and took her for a thrash around town, she actually ran really well, just a little grumpy at times. Had to jump start her due to not being run for 2 months, but shes all charged up and good to go! BUY IT NOW $4,000-dont even bother offering me less the answer is no unless you have either a 1959 Cadillac or 60s Mustang to trade. Thanks, Steve
