I am pleased to offer my 1996 Suburban 2500 for sale. This is a true Southern California truck with no rust. Due to changes in my life I no longer need this car. It took a long time for me to find the right Suburban. There are a lot of them out there but they've normally had a very hard life and have not been taken care of. When I found this Suburban, it came from a nice family (the mom's car) in a very nice neighborhood who had used this car like a "soccer mom suv." It was NEVER used for hauling or towing. Instead it was used to take all the kids around town and for road trips in California. In addition it had a good maintenance history (including a lot of dealer work, suspension and steering work, typical maintenance, AC...etc) and all the right options. I promise you won't find a 2500 like this out there very often.

This is a 1996 K2500 Chevrolet Suburban with the 7.4 liter ( 454 cu. in. ) big block motor, 4x4 drivetrain, 3.73 gearing and positrac limited slip rear end. It has ZERO rust, no accidents, original body panels, heavy duty components throughout and a dark colored interior (good luck finding another dark color interior out there). It was built in the Wisconsin plant, unlike some Suburbans built outside the USA. When this truck had about 80K miles, the engine was replaced with a new motor from the factory and installed by the dealer. I have all paperwork for this. So you're looking at a motor with 140K on it with dealer paperwork to prove. And you're looking at a Suburban that was NOT used for towing, farming or hauling. Basically a very heavy duty truck that's been used like a minivan! I've decoded all the RPO codes with this car and they're at the bottom for your reference.

This Suburban includes 3 keys, 2 factory remotes, owners manual, cargo net and service records (easily over 10K in receipts). Some of the items done by the previous owner include:

I recently had the car at my mechanic and the following was done:

New AC compressor

I have also had the driver's seat bottom and padding redone. The truck is riding on 265 width tires, larger than the factory 245. This is a common upgrade which ensures more traction and smoother ride. The roof and hood have been painted which is pretty common with GM trucks, vans and SUVs from this era. They all had the issue of paint peeling and chipping off. There are typical paint spider cracks in a few spots as well, but you only notice it when very close. Typical dings can be expected given the age of the truck. Overall the truck's exterior is presentable. The truck also has the 3rd row seat and is smoged, CA registration is current and it's ready to go. Rubber floormats are included. I have an Auto Check report which confirms the SoCal life, ownership and no accidents. Auto Check ratings on average for a 1996 Suburban 2500 is 16 to 39; but mine is rated at 58! Title is clean and clear, ready to be transferred. The truck has not been smoked in.

The truck rides well and the motor is smooth. There is no slipping and the engine fires right up. To put the engine and gearing in perspective, at 70MPH its at about 2000 RPM and at 80MPH its around 2400RPM. The truck easily gets to 80MPH on the highway and has no problems maintaining it. With the way it drives, its easy to not know how fast you're going until you look at the speedo! If you plan to use this truck for any towing, the engine and gearing combo will ensure you have plenty of power with descent fuel economy.

Remember the 2500 Suburbans came with towing equipment, external transmission cooler, 8 lug axles, optional 454 motor, high capacity air filter, heavy duty transmission (4L80E), gas tank shield and many other items. This is not the typical 1500 Suburban. Given the history and equipment on this 2500 Suburban, I expect that it will be desirable throughout the United States and it will keep its value. I see what solid Suburbans can go for. I've set a reserve to protect myself but the number is very reasonable.
