SUMMARY
Driven only 347 milesIf you think the F5 Camaro is just another chintzy, gaudy 'high school dreamboat', it's been a while since you took a good look at GM's premier pony car. From strip to show, it's hard to find a better multi-purpose platform than a modern Camaro. And when you combine 400 horsepower with a slick, 6-speed transmission, huge tires, Brembo brakes and a rock-solid chassis, you get first class performance that'll match pretty much anything on the road. Essentially new, this 347-mile coupe is 1 of only 200 Indianapolis 500 Camaro Pace Car replicas Chevrolet produced for the 2010 model year. And if you enjoy going fast and turning heads, but don't want to show up in the same car as 10 other bowtie loyalists, it's a modern Detroit marvel that's just your style!
BODYWORK/TRIM
Sporting mere break-in miles on its bright digital odometer, this showroom-fresh Chevy is an as-new garage queen that's assembly line perfect in virtually every way. A brilliant coat of Inferno Orange 2-stage is accented by striking, Indy-themed decals and clean, Pearl White Rally Stripes. Those top-notch aesthetics are stretched around small fog lamps, an optional grille insert, Indy-themed badging and a subtle deck spoiler. An optional RS appearance package bundles HID headlights with smoked tail lamps. And overall, there's essentially nothing on this awesome coupe that can be considered anything more than simple shelf wear.
ENGINE
No car guy worth his salt will dispute the merit of anything with eight cylinders and a Chevrolet badge! This Super Sport's ample power is supplied by a stout, 6.2 liter L99 V8 that's based on GM's award winning LS engine. Exclusive to the automatic Camaro, the L99 utilizes a cast aluminum block, high-flow heads, a high-flow intake, an aggressive cam, offset rocker arms, upgraded fuel injectors and coil-near-plug firing to twist 10.7:1 compression into 400 horsepower and 410 lb./ft. of torque. This impressive mill is an excellent example of why some people believe today is the second golden age of performance. And, dressed in an Inferno Orange-tinged shroud, it shows surprisingly well. Mechanically, there are no leaks or squeaks of any kind, and the car's engine bay appears just as clean as the day it rolled off GM Canada's assembly lines. Every original piece is present, in factory-new condition and ready to be modified for even better performance. And, thanks to GM's Active Fuel Management cylinder deactivation technology, it all returns excellent fuel economy.
DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION
Take a look under this Chevy and you'll find a slick-shifting Hydra-Matic 6L80 6-speed that's suspended in a proven, road-ready chassis. The 6L80 is one of the highest capacity automatics ever installed in a GM passenger car, featuring either performance algorithm technology or, if you want to row through the gears yourself, paddle shifting. That tough transmission spins a standard issue limited-slip axle that's fitted with friendly 3.27 gears. That drivetrain plays well with a sophisticated, Nurburgring-tested performance suspension which benefits from Stabilitrak traction and stability control. A sweet but equally brutal soundtrack is provided by factory-tuned cat-back exhaust. Variable-ratio power steering, big Brembo calipers and giant, vented rotors combine with factory ABS and electronic brake distribution to ensure this is the best handling Camaro to date. And power pounds the pavement through polished Rally Sport wheels, which spin 245/45ZR20 Pirelli P Zeros in front of 275/40ZR20 Pirelli P Zeros.
INTERIOR
Chevy's inferno of orange transitions inside this pristine Camaro where you'll find a fresh leather interior that displays hardly any signs of wear. The car's heated, Indy-branded seats are supple, supportive and near perfect in every way. The dash, which features the same Inferno Orange accents as the car's reverse-stitched door panels, centers a requisite Driver Information Center between traditional, silver-trimmed gauges. At the center of that dash, controls for a Boston Acoustics 9-speaker sound system ride above factory 4-pack accessory gauges and a short, leather-wrapped shifter. Below those gauges, like-new carpet is protected by color-keyed floor mats and bright Chevy sill plates. Opposite that carpet, a self-dimming mirror prominently features GM's award winning OnStar service. In front of the driver, an ornate steering wheel spins buttons for the car's Bluetooth connectivity, Boston Acoustics audio system and cruise control around a standard tilt and telescoping column. Behind the passengers, a surprisingly spacious trunk features enough room for a weekend's worth of luggage. And naturally, all the luxuries you'd expect in a high dollar muscle car are present and accounted for including: power windows, power door locks, power seats, heated power mirrors, Remote Keyless Entry and Universal Home Remote.
