1986 Chevy Suburban K10 4WD Great Condition, Low Miles, Unmodified
1986 Chevrolet Suburban K10 Description
I'm sadly selling my beautiful 1986 Chevy Suburban K10 with Custom Deluxe trim (the base trim that year...vinyl seats, plain door panels, rubber floor mat...easy to keep clean!). My wife doesn't like to ride in this magnificent brute of a vehicle, and says we need something safer for our kids (I personally guarantee you WILL survive a crash in this beast!). It has its original 350 4 barrel engine ('86 was the last year for the carburetor before fuel injection arrived for '87), the rock-solid 700R4 automatic overdrive tranny that doesn't have a computer (much more reliable than the electronic 700R4 that replaced it). It also has GM's wonderful manual-locking front hubs and a 4 wheel drive that you have to shift into...way more reliable than all of the electronicstuff on today's 4WDs. It also has the rare "Trailering Special" package that means this truck is rated to tow trailers up to 7,000 lbs in weight...it has heavier springs, shocks, suspension components, and brakes, along with a massive 4-core radiator that won't overheat no matter what you do to it. It was ordered with all of the good stuff necessary to go off-road with skid plates under everything...it was built to survive a nuclear war. It was ordered with a minimum amount of "fluff"...power steering and brakes, A/C, AM-FM stereo with 4 speakers (note...original radioneeds replacement), tinted glass, tilt-wheel, intermittent wipers (switch needs replaced and is available thru "LMCTruck.com" for $27.00),full gauges, large stainless exterior mirrors, front bumper guards, deluxe seatbelts, electric rear window, floor mats, 15x8 Rally wheels, 3.42 posi rear differential, exterior appearance group that included chrome bumpers and nicer side trim (note...current side trimneeds replaced... available thru LMC Truckfor about $200), and the lower paint was originally a dark silver metallic...I would return it to that scheme when the side trim is replaced). The truck was repaintedin the original dark metallic blue at some point in the past, and the paint is decent-to-good...there are a few minor flaws, but overall the truck looks very good. The seats and seatbelts are like new, and the rubber floor mat is decent, but the dash pad is cracked and crying out for a dash cover. All of the glass is nice with the exception of the back window, which has a lot of scratches (also available thru LMC Truck). The only rust is behind the rear wheels on both sides (very small areas...see photos), and minor rust bubbling in two small areas on the rear rocker panels. There is NO rust-thru anywhere else on this truck. It spent its life in TN and NC, and only recently came to OH. The odometer shows 48k, and the titlehad 38k when I bought it...Carfax has NOTHING on this truck...not one record. The guy I bought it from found it at an estate sale in a small town in TN and said it had been sitting for "years" after the owner passed away. I'm selling it as 148k, but it could be 48k as it's so nice. The exterior emblems are all nice, there is virtually no rust on it, the seats are nice, and it drives beautifully. The enginehas 145 psi of compression or above on all cylinders, and it has plenty of power. The only drawback to the engine is that the carb needs a rebuild at some point in the future...it starts easily but runs choppy until it's warmed for about 3 mins. The engine also smokes for about 3 minutes, which is due to the valve seals needing to be replaced (a simple task for any auto garage)...the engine doesn't need rings or to be rebuilt according to my mechanic. The factory A/C needs a charge and conversion to R134. The trans shifts smoothly...no issues, and has fresh fluid and filter. I also had the 4WD system completely gone thru and lubed and it works great...this truck will plow thru 8 inches of snow like it's nothing! The brakes and suspension have been inspected, it's had a 4-wheel alignment, and has new Gabriel Performance shocks...it rides beautifully and firmly. It also has brand new Firestone RWL Destination LE2 tires in the P265-75-R15 size, as well as a complete new exhaust incl. a new cat converter. It has a few dents, needs rubber side trim, and a few bucks spent on minor rust repair, but it is a ROCK-SOLID towing beast. I would absolutely not hesitate to drive it coast-to-coast, and it actually doesn't do too bad on gas on the highway (15 or so). I have never driven a vehicle that gets so much attention at gas stations, grocery stores, wherever...everyone loves this truck! It comes with the original GM keys (which have almost no wear), and the original owner's manual and warranty book with the original buyer's name and selling dealership. I will work with the buyer to help load it if it is going to be shipped, but the shipping costs and arrangements are up to him. I expect a down payment of $500 via Paypal within 48 hours of the close of the sale or I will relist it. Balance is due via cash or cashier's check, and the check must clear my bank before the truck leaves my driveway. Please call me at 614/769-5868 if you have any questions.
