1996 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport Desirable Grand Sport - # 111 of 1,000 Total Production (1 of 86 configured in this color combination) ZF 6-Speed Manual with LT4 V8 Adding 30+ Horsepower Collectible & Fully Documented with Window Sticker, Extensive Service History & More! Original California Car, Totally Clean Car Fax and Long Time Owner / Enthusiast Owner ______________________________________ Chevrolet released the Grand Sport (GS) version in 1996 to mark the end of production of the C4 Corvette. The Grand Sport moniker is a nod to the original Grand Sport model produced in 1963. A total of 1,000 GS Corvettes were produced, 810 as coupes and 190 as convertibles. The 1996 Grand Sport came with the high-performance LT4 V8 engine, producing 330 hp and 340 ft. lbs. of torque. The Grand Sport was available only in Admiral Blue Metallic with a white stripe down the middle, 5-spoke black wheels, two red "hash marks" on the front driver's side wheel arch, and special seat trim providing a distinctive look. The Grand Sport also has wider tires ala ZR1, and the coupes were outfitted with small rear fender flares. This Grand Sport represents a wonderful example of a collectible Corvette that has been pampered by its enthusiast owners since it was new. The documentation dates back to the cars original California delivery date of November 17, 1995 to its original owner. The car includes all of the original books, records, window sticker and other information that certifies it as 1 of 86 Corvette Grand Sports produced in this unique and sought after color combination. The car has a totally clean CarFax report and no indication or suggestion of partial repainting, panel damage, replacement or major flaws. The original paint is excellent, high gloss and free from all but the most minor imperfections that in no way detract from the cars appearance. The exterior trim, glass, wheels are in equally good condition and show extremely well. The interior is striking in this combination and the care of its professional, enthusiast owner/driver's is apparent. The car has no wear on the often times torn or badly worn driver's side bolster and all of the interior components are factory, and excellent. There are no cracks or damage to the dash, door panels, or other trim and the carpeting is in lovely condition. Frankly, the interior shows like a considerably newer example of a Corvette. The electrical system is fully functional, including the front headlights and the car is fitted with a remote multi-disc CD changer that is mounted in the rear compartment. The engine bay is exceptionally clean and shows a high level of maintenance and care. The car has been serviced regularly, if not obsessively, as the below maintenance summary reflects. The Grand Sport has been used as an occasional car, and it clearly shows. There are a few very slight rock chips in the front area but they are difficult to notice and far less in number than the large majority of late model Corvettes that we see. There is absolutely no bumper parking ‽rash” and this car appears to have always been a "suburban car.” RECENT MAINTENANCE Within the previous 1,000 to 1,500 miles~ - A/C recharge with R-134A - New water pump - Flush cooling system and fresh coolant - Replace upper & lower radiator hoses - New serpentine belt - New front & rear rotors - New EBC Yellowstuff Aramid brake pads (front & rear) Note no squeal - New Nitto high performance tires (front & rear) - 4 wheel alignment - New battery - Air cleaner filter - Complete fluid service including: Oil, filter, transmission, rear differential - Complete safety and vehicle inspection with all minor deficiencies addressed including above mentioned items PREVIOUS MAINTENANCE The cars owner maintained a comprehensive ‽Vehicle Lubrication Service Record” from 19,539 (subsequent to the Chevrolet warranty period) that document each and every repair and service that the car received from 19,539 to 65,500 miles (4,500 miles ago) and confirms the cars low mileage since it was produced in late 1995. Also included is documentation from General Motors that shows the warranty work that was completed on an internal document along with other information that is outlined earlier in this write-up (build information, options, in-depth specification and much more). It should be noted that the maintenance performed on the Grand Sport was extensive and completed literally every few thousand miles by an obviously meticulous, enthusiast owner. Frankly, it would be difficult to find a Grand Sport Corvette that has received better car than this example. Corvette enthusiasts who seek total and complete documentation will certainly find this car appealing. Specifically, the Grand Sport will be delivered with the following: - Original window sticker - Build sheet / information - Original owner's manuals & documents - Repair & maintenance receipts / Repair history back to date of sale in 1995 - Upgraded - Vehicle inspection results with all opportunity area addressed and totally current maintenance - Color matching quality car cover - Two sets of keys - Battery charger - Copies of past and recent smog inspections - always passed DRIVING THE CORVETTE GRAND SPORT We have driven a large number of virtually all years of Corvette's and must say, this Grand Sport is a great car to drive. The additional 30 horsepower over the stock LT1 offers considerably more ‽kick”, especially in third gear. The extra 30 horsepower comes from a more aggressive camshaft, higher-flow aluminum heads, larger valves, higher-compression pis¬tons, new high-flow fuel injectors, and roller rocker arms. Also, the addition of the stainless steel free flow Corsa performance exhaust results in a terrific sound…not offensive but just the right exhaust note. Adding to the cars drivability and handling is the addition of the Z51 handling package that includes stiffer springs, Bilstein shock absorbers and front and rear stabilizer bars. These upgrades and the larger ZR1 sized tires make the car handle much better without affecting the ride quality or overall comfort of the car. When it comes to "creature comforts” the car is fully fitted with options that make it suitable for a long trip should the new owner decide to head out on Route 66 for a test drive. And, with a highway mileage rating of close to 30 mpg from the 6-speed manual transmission, the trip would not only be thoroughly enjoyable, but relatively inexpensive, as well. Finally, while we in no way encourage this kind of activity, what better way to test the cars top end capability of a stated 170 mph top speed! Thank you, Classic Cars Ltd. 925-846-1451
