1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Description

1970 SS 454 Chevelle

The story

I have a build sheet that came with the car, Born in Texas at the Arlington Plant, according to the build sheet . Sold to a guy named Jim Dowds. It loses it history for a while,

History was picked up in Cleveland Ohio by a guy who claims he had it for 20 years, about 12 years ago the motor started smoking and it was replaced with a rebuilt 73 454 and turbo.

Original motor and 400 trans is available for $6500.00 with the car at the time of buying. ( Both need rebuilt) Motor is a 399512 casting with a early build date in 1969 with a stamped CRQ on it, Cant clearly see the vin though.

According to a dealer in Cleveland the owner got tired of it and it sat and he sold it to the dealer in Cleveland. They went thru the car, to verify its a SS and believes from whats listed below, that it is a true SS but other than the build sheet they couldn't claim it was a true LS5.

Car is Cranberry red but the color code says Mystic Blu, this is believed to be a possible mistake at the factory or a special order color. It did come with black stripes.

Car was a bench seat car but some where along the way buckets were added.

No body panels appears to have been replaced on this car or so it appears to 3 body men and 2 appraisers.

I have two appraisols one is an insurance value and the other is resell value!

All in all it is a great Better than driver quality 1970 SS 454 Chevelle Automatic. Everything appears correct . Its a get in and go fun car!

It also has all of these items that identifies a 1970 454 SS chevelle- round black gauges - blacked-out grille- wheelwell moldings- black rear bumper insert panel with SS on it- chrome 14X7 five spoke sport wheels- twin rectangular exhaust outlets- SS grille emblem- SS rear bumper emblem- SS emblems on a black steering wheel and column.- SS 454 emblems on the front fenders- power disk front brakes.- Motor casting will be 3963512- 12 bolt rear end- Rear anti sway bar which boxes the trailing arms

- First off I'm not a dealer just a car nut.- It has come to my attention that one camp is saying build sheet may be a fake. Others are saying it is real. I don't know I got it with the car. Please come look at car and build sheet before having any opinions or dising the car .- Dash QUESTION there isn't a space between wiper and washer. And yes It likes a few of the gauges have been replaced as they have broken. They aren't NOS, I bought gas gauge from OPG-if you think I took miss leading pictures please email and ask for any photo you need. Or better yet come look at the car like others are doing. I have a lot of pics.-this is a car that was restored in 2010, before I bought it. It was not a concourse restoration and I haven't said it was.
If you want a 454 SS chevelle with an era correct motor, another motor that appears to be casting and date correc, then this is the car for you . it isn't a $60,000.00 or Barrett Jackson car.
Look at what dealers are getting for 1970 chevelle resto mods and bid accordlying and you will be pleasantly surprised by this car.
I drive the car often and it is a very nice car, better than driver quality. It runs good, brakes good. It wins trophys and gets a lot of attention.I have 2 legitimate appraisals, not someone's opinion!
