I JUST SOLD A SIMILAR 1969 SUBURBAN AND AS A RESULT WE FOUND THIS ONE JUST DOWN THE STREET. THIS COULD VERY WELL BE ONE OF THE MOST SOLID SUBURBANS WE HAVE SEEN. THE UNDERCARRIAGE LOOKS LIKE IT HAS NEVER SEEN A PUDDLE AND THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT IS LIKE NEW.

This 1968 Chevrolet Suburban was assembled at the General Motors automobile factory in Fremont, California. It has spent its entire life in California and it shows, as the entire truck is rock solid. It also has no rust, other than some surface rust. The doors and floors are solid.

The truck had been tucked away in a garage for 25 plus years before the most recent owner had bought it about five years ago and put a ton of money and labor into it to get it like it is today. All of the hard work has been completed, you just need to choose your paint and have the seats recovered to match and you are done.

Modifications:

All of the modifications that have been done are minor and nothing was cut, so they can quickly be changed back to stock. The wood in the back can easily be removed with a couple of bolts, or you can cover it and put speakers in, as the owner had planned. The instrument cluster was replaced by the insert panel for custom gauges to be installed, but this too can be removed and put back to stock. I do not have theoriginalcluster, but one can be found on eBay to bring back to original. The replacement seatsare actually very comfortable and are in greatshape. The front bucket seats are believed to be from a Blazer and I am not sure what the back seats are from, but they split and can be folded up to access the back. I wasquoted a couple hundred dollars to have all of the seats professionallyrecovered.I have the original radio and the heaterassembly.I do not havethe original seats.

All of the door trim has been replaced and I have the original trim pieces that are in great shape. I also have all of the trim for the grill, the headline (rare) and a ton of other spare parts and pieces, including all of the clips and hardware. I also have a ton of receipts for parts and work, as well as just about every part catalog and service manual you can think of.

Everything on the truck works as it should. It runs strong and sounds great! It has plenty of power and it cruises nice. It also rides very well at highway speed. I would not be afraid to drive this anywhere.

PRODUCTION HISTORY

The 6th generation Suburbans featured a single driver-side door and two passenger-side doors, and were available in both2WDand4WDmodels.

Engines offered over the six model years included the 250 and 292 CI inline 6, 283, 307, 327, and 350 CI small block V-8, and 396/402 CI big block V-8. For the first time, a three-quarter ton version was available.

A new grille with a wider horizontal centerpiece debuted for 1969along with a foot-operated parking brake (which replaced the former hand brake). A quartet of new V8s debuted this year: a trio of 350s with outputs ranging from 255 to 350 horsepower and a 396 with 310 horses but more torque than the smaller V8s.

This series would also be the last to offer C-10 & C-20 panel truckmodels for commercial purposes, with 1970 as the last year.
