1971 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28
4-Speed Manual
Rally Sport
Tuxedo Black/Sandlewood

Up for auction is this stunning 1971 Camaro Z/28, Rally Sport 4-Speed with Sandalwood interior. The Camaro was originally sold by Carter Chevrolet in Shelby, NC. The car has had six owners since new, and it is obvious that all six have loved the car and taken great care of the Z-28 over the years.
The first owner ordered the car with the vinyl top and sold the Z in 1978 with only 2,400 miles. The 2nd had the car for a very short period of time and sold it to the 3rd owner with light front end damage. The 3rd owner performed the repair and removed the numbers matching LT1 and transmission intending to place it in a race car. The car was then sold to a SC couple. In 2006, ownership was transferred to a 5th owner in Charlotte, NC.
The engine never found its way into the race car; however, it remains in his outbuilding on an engine stand. Attempts were made in person to acquire the original equipment to offer with the car, but the gentleman showed ZERO interest in parting with it. There was no negotiation. It was not for sale.
The first five owners have all been from Shelby, Charlotte, and nearby Columbia SC areas. The sixth owner brought the car to Indiana 3-1/2 years ago. Since being in Indiana, the car has ALWAYS been stored inside an enclosed car trailer inside an insulated pole building with a concrete floor.
Starting in 2008 the Camaro had a minor ground up restoration. The car was rust free aside from the trunk pan, which was replaced. The original vinyl top was removed and the car was stripped down to bare metal and repainted in the original color of Tuxedo Black. Between 2010 and 2014 the carpet, door panels, package tray and rear quarter trim was replaced. The chassis was cleaned and detailed, vintage A/C was also installed. The A/C is under the dash and out of site. The vinyl top was professionally reinstalled as a condition of purchase by the present owner in 2014.
On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the best the car is a solid 8 all day long! We do have a couple of small items to let you know about. On the passenger front fender, the car has a couple tiny paint bubbles. These blemishes were identified at the time of purchase in 2014 and there has been no sign of further deterioration. The paint is not raised or bubbled anywhere else on the car. On the rear deck lid you will see and small blemish in the pin stripe (not perfectly straight). There is a small gap between the rear bumperette' where it fastens to the rear body panel. Since the rear panel is laser straight, we suspect the gap is the result of the installation of an aftermarket rear bumper.
The odometer in the car is functional and reads 42,800 miles. Given the condition of the car and the fact that it was known to be driven very sparingly by owners 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6, we believe the reading to be 100% correct. The 4th owners did not place 140,000+ miles on the car. If you have any question please feel free to call or email at any time.
