1946 Chevrolet Other Pickups Description

1946 Chevy Chevrolet Dump Truck
NO RESERVE
Offering for sale, at no reserve, a very cool and very original 1946 Chevrolet truck. This old truck came from a farm in dry western Kansas, and spent the majority of its life stored inside. I am always hesitant to call something rust free, but I have not found any rust yet on the truck. Cab corners, rockers, floors, fenders, all rust free. As for the paint and body overall, it has what I would call a probably 30 year old "farmer" paint job. Not sure if it was Krylon or a paint gun job done in the barn, but you get the idea. It actually looks pretty neat, and definitely was great for preservation purposes. Would look great in a parade - as is. Please keep in mind that this truck spent its life on the farm, and although stored inside and well cared for, it has numerous dings and dents. No major damage, just what you would expect from a truck that was used as a truck wasmeant to be.
Mechanically this truck seems to be in great condition. I was told that the engine currently in the truck is a 292. I suppose it could be a 235/261- either way it is the later full oil pressure engine, and still looks very original. The truck runs and drives great, especially for a 70 year old vehicle. The carb could probably use a little attention as it runs the best on partial choke. I have had to change the fuel filter a couple of times from sediment/old gas in tank, but its not too bad and will probably clear up once a couple of tanks of fresh gas are run through it. All the gauges work, except the temp gauge, it stays pegged out even when key is off. Truck does not run hot. The truck also has a 2 speed rear diff, and very good 7.50 x 20 tires, steering is very tight & solid.
As for the bed, it has a very unique lift set up. It has a PTO driven cable winch, that runs pulleys to raise and lower the bed. It works great. The farmer had patched the bed in a couple of spots, simply because he was last using it for seed wheat, but the bed is in overall good condition. There is some carpet in the bed in the pictures we changed out some carpet in our house and I used this truck to haul it away, I'll make sure it is cleaned out before truck is picked up!
I always try to give a good description of these old trucks, but please remember that many or most components are 70 years old. Just plan on belts, hoses, brakes, points, wires etc.. All this stuff iso.k. now but things like these tend to need attention over time. Above all else call or text Cort at 620-786-5172 with any questions. I want you to know exactly what you are getting. Please check my feedback from other trucks I have sold, and bid with confidence. Thank you and good luck.
