2006 Chevrolet Avalanche 2500 4X4 8.1L LS Description
Up for sale is a 2006 Chevrolet Avalanche 2500. 4x4, Vortec 8100 engine. 158,000 miles. This is the last year this legendary Big Block engine was offered in GM passenger vehicles. With the 4.10 rear end this effectively makes this truck the most capable and powerful SUV GM ever built.
Only 344 of Avalanche 2500's were made in 2006. That's less than 1 a day. What makes this truck even more unique is a line of options it has been ordered with:
- Only 125 had GT5 G80 rear differential - 4.10 gear ratio with Eaton locker.
- Only 44 had cloth seats, others were leather.
- Only 38 were painted Olympic White.
- Only 30 came with the manual dual-zone climate control.
- Only 20 trucks were ordered with the front bench seat that legally seats 3, and no bulky center console.
About the truck:
This truck has been in Las Vegas since new. There is absolutely NO RUST anywhere on this 11 years old truck. Not even a slightest bit!!! The truck rolled off the assembly line on 10/10/2005 (seems to me that all of those 2006 2500's were built in October 2005) but it was registered for the first time almost a year later - on 09/12/2006.
Has 12,000 lbs factory trailer hitch but I believe the truck wasn't used for towing. There is no evidence that this truck ever had a brake controller installed. Has 7-pin trailer connector.
Engine starts and runs smoothly, and has insane amount of power. A new Gates water pump has been installed as it was weeping, indicating due time.
Transmission shifts smoothly, the truck accelerates properly and the torque converter locks up as it should. The transfer case shifts between 2HI, 4HI, 4LO and N as supposed. We have done the diagonal test and the G80 locker engages and disengages as it should.
Interior is in excellent condition. Seats have no tears or holes. Driver's seat is powered. Carpet is clean. No smoker and no pets. Comes with 4 GM rubber mats. Leather wrapped steering wheel is in excellent condition and the buttons work and are not worn out. Radio, power windows, mirrors and locks work. The A/C blows ice cold. Rear seats and divider fold as designed. All glass including windshield is free of any defects.
Cargo bed has a rubber mat and a roll up cover.
Tires have about 1/3 tread left and are dated 2011. They are okay for driving around in Southern California but eventually need replaced. TPMS is displaying all tire pressures properly. A set of 4 new LT245/75R16 tires for this truck runs about $500.
There is no Check Engine light or other warning messages lights present. The truck is not dripping any fluids.
Other things to note:
Under the driver's door handle there is a hole when someone attempted to break into the vehicle.
On the passenger's door there are scratched letters "A" and "S", and the black swoosh sticker isn't perfect.
Salvage history.
On 08/19/2016 there has been an accident reported that states "It hit a parked motor vehicle". On 08/20/2016 it says "Insurance claim paid due to theft", which doesn't make any sense, I believe it is wrong data. In reality there was a minor grille/hood bender and the truck has been fully rebuilt. Original auction pictures showing the damage are uploaded to the gallery to eliminate any salvage mystery. The truck is fully original. There has been no frame or structural damage. Air bags did not deploy. Truck will be sold with rebuilt title to California buyers. Out-of-state buyers will need to perform salvage inspection in their home state, we will provide with receipts if necessary. The following parts have been replaced: hood, bumper bar and brackets, headlights, nose panel that holds the headlights, radiator, fan shroud, hood latch and cable. We sourced a used same color hood in excellent condition from a 2005 Avalanche. There is NO bodywork and NO bondo on this truck ever. It's entirely original. We installed all new front lights, including the fogs (all were hazy). The bumper cover is original, although the plastic was welded a bit in 3 places.
"I hate rust" story.
I once lived in MA and owned a 10-year old BMW wagon. They put a lot of salt on the roads in the winter so the car was extremely rusted. Not only it looked bad, I had to do tons of rust-related repairs. Even regular maintenance was more difficult due to unforeseen problems caused by stripped bolts, holes, etc. Simple repairs often became unnecessary extensive, very expensive and at times - impossible. After 2 years of ownership, I spend way more time and money on fighting rust than I would have if I gotten a southern car shipped to me. I told myself - never again. Save yourself a headache - fly south to pick up a nice rust-free vehicle or have it shipped.
Vehicle can be seen in San Diego California. Independent inspections welcome. Fly in and drive it home. We issue a 90-day temporary tag. We can also arrange to have this truck shipped (approx. $450 to Northwest, $650 to TX, $1100-1300 to Eastern states).
