1970 CHEVELLE SS 454 LS5 LS6
1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 Description
1970 CHEVELLE SS 454 LS5/LS6?This is an original Kansas built SS 454 car that still retains the original CRV posi 12 Bolt rear. Currently has a 73 454 and TH400 trans. Car was a Garage find that only had 2 owners and was taken off the road back in 1989 to start a restoration that never was finished. Car was partially disassembled, Intake was removed but was told was running when pulled into the garage. I was also told the car was an original LS6 but I have not been able to locate any paperwork so I am assuming it’s an LS5. In either case, they are the rarest of the 70 model year. Has the "L" on the trim tag which historically indicates a Real Optioned SS. Car has both supply and return fuel lines which usually means Qjet but I have been told some LS6 cars had both. Polaroids are from mid 80's.Has a Passenger side NOS fender from the 80’s and body is straight. Both quarters have lower patch panels on from the rear well back and below the hump of the body line. Car has rust under the lower windshield and will need replacement panel. Floors have some areas as well as trunk that will need metal work but decent. Has all original paint in the door and trunk jambs. Most of the parts are there for the car.. I have the front bumper with the brackets.Originally Astro Blue Code 25 with 753 Black Rivar Cloth, Coated Fabric Bench Seat. Now has a set of 70 Buckets with Console. Interior is mostly there but dash is cut up from gauges and No Factory Gauge package. Looks to have possibly had a stereo option with L&R front speakers in the dash.Keep in mind this is a restoration project car that currently is not running or driving you could probably get it running over a weekend if you like.. I was going to take it down to the frame and start over but want to focus on my Matching Numbers Black Cherry 4 speed SS 396 car. I think it’s a fairly solid car for what I have been seeing out there but everyone has an opinion. SS wheels pictured on the front do not go with the car. Please call me if you have any questions or make arrangements to come see it. Dave 7722841169
On May-08-17 at 10:54:12 PDT, seller added the following information:Just wanted to send a note that this is a 47 year old car and needs to be "Restored". Everyone has a certain level of expectation on what that means. To me.. it means everything NOS, New, or Refinished cause I am a fanatic and enjoy bringing them back to “Concourse” showroom original… and the car will need a lot of it including the rust metalwork throughout. Some are more than happy with a “Driver Quality Restoration” which takes a lot less time and money. In either case the car needs TLC and I suggest you set your expectations accordingly. Car hasn’t run since the late 80’s so I was planning on going thru the whole drivetrain as well (motor does turn over by hand and appears very clean inside). I strongly urge if you’re interested please call/text me to discuss any concerns/questions prior to bidding. With all that said, I feel it has a great foundation and well worth any level of Restoration.
For those who like this originality kind of thing... there is a crayon marking of "25" for the paint code still on the firewall by the booster.
Car is being sold “AS IS”. Thank you and Good Luck Bidding!
