1982 Chevrolet Corvette Description

You are bidding on a very nice 1982 Chevrolet Corvette C3 with Crossfire Injection. This car is very reliable and I wouldn't hesitate to get in it and start off anywhere in the US. This isn't a show car but it is well on it's way if you want it to be. The North Carolina title is clear and in-hand. The corvette runs/drives/handles great. The Crossfire Injection is smooth with good pickup. The ride is smooth and tight. Steering is quick and responsive like it should be. This car has been in our immediate area for the last 15+ years and owned by persons that have taken very good care of it. This car has not been wrecked but there shows to be new paint around the bottom of the front clip. This is common with corvettes where speed bumps and sidewalks tend to scratch up the paint. There is no broken fiberglass on the car. The car shows a lot of original equipment. The seats and carpet and floor mats are original. There are wear areas/holes in the carpet where you would expect them to be. The dash has a crack directly above the speedo/tach along the front of the speaker. Also, if ever the dash cracks it is in this area. The design wasn't perfect for the expansion of the plastic in the heat. Overall the paint on the corvette is better than you could expect. There are a few small rock chips in places. The car has solid T-Tops that are painted to match. The car is very dry with no leaking around the tops. Both fit and are tight with no rattle. The driver's side T-Top has a scratch running horizontally. The car does not have the T-Top bags but the tie downs are installed. The raised white-letter BF Goodrich tires are 95%+ for wear. The 225/70R-15 look great on the beautiful stock wheels. The rear deck does not have the luggage rack. The installation pockets are there and in very good shape. The original radio has been upgraded to an aftermarket and the installation was done correctly. All of the gages work. The air conditioning is not cold. It was cold last summer. There most likely is a small Freon leak. The battery is brand new. Again, this is not a perfect car and you are not being asked to pay the price a perfect one would cost. This is the last year of one of the best looking corvettes in my opinion. You can own a classic that will always look like a classic. From what you see in the pictures let them be your guide. There are things that I might have overlooked or failed to mention. The opinions are mine. If you have questions, please ask before you bid. The car is located in Murphy, North Carolina. Murphy is 2.5 hours North of Atlanta, 4 hours West of Charlotte, NC, 2.5 hours West of Asheville, NC. There is a possibility that the car can be delivered if you are less than 200 miles. The delivery will be at our best possible convenience. Please note that $500 is due by PayPal within 48 hours and full payment within 5 days of the end of the bidding. Make arrangements and communicate is all I can say. Violations to these conditions will cause your account to be reported to eBay. It is bad to have to say this, but there are dishonest bidders/buyer out there. This sale is an AS-IS sale. Below is a little background from Wiki: In 1980, both front and rear bumper covers were restyled with brand new integrated aerodynamic spoilers that resulted in a significant reduction in drag and increased radiator air flow. The hood was also restyled as well. The crossed-flag emblems disappeared from the front fenders and were revised to a more elongated style on the nose and fuel door. This model year was the first corvette to use a fiberglass rear leaf spring, now a Corvette trademark. The spring saved thirty-six pounds, but was limited to base suspensions with automatic transmission. The cast aluminum wheels, optional since ’76, were now ordered on 90 percent of the cars at a cost of $428.[6] New options included a power adjustable driver’s seat and power remote outside mirrors. In mid-1981 production shifted from St. Louis, Missouri to Bowling Green, Kentucky, and several two-tone paint options were offered. 1982 saw the debut of the “Cross-Fire Injection” fuel delivery system. This TBI (Throttle Body Fuel Injection) was not the type of fuel injection installed previously in some C1 and C2 Corvettes. It utilized two throttle bodies combined with Chevrolet’s computer control system.[6] The engine produced 200 hp (149 kW) and was mated to a new four-speed automatic transmission with torque converters bypass in the top three gears. Compared to the previous Turbo-Hydramatic 3-speed, the new 700-R4 transmission had a lower first and second gear for improved low-end acceleration, and a fourth gear overdrive that would reduce engine RPM by 30 percent at highway cruising speeds, resulting in better fuel economy. On the downside, the new transmission was not considered a strong unit and proved problematic.[35] The final model C3 Corvette's published performance numbers were 0-60 in 7.9 seconds-the quarter-mile in 16.1 @ 85 mph (137 km/h). This was the last year for 8-track tape availability and new “cross-fire injection” emblems appeared on front fenders. Nose and fuel door crossed-flags emblems changed to a more squared design. -Wiki
