1964 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport Description

VIN #. 41447S263119
The item for sale is a 1964 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport. This car is a rare find. It has to be one of the very few 1964 Impala Super Sports in the country that has this kind of originality and original documents to back up the ownership history. For a car to reach this age and still retain its original motor, transmission, rear end and interior as well as all the original sheet metal is incredible. The car is a time warp back to 1964 so here is its rich history.-The car was sold new May 9th1964 to Edward Roenicke of Rural Route 1 Millstadt IL. The car was sold at Diedrich Chevrolet Co216 West Laurel St. Millstadt IL.- This car has and retains all the original paperwork Edward Roenicke was handed May 9th1964. It includes the title from 1964 which we were able to secure from the State of Illinois. The car retains the original Illinois Land of Lincoln license plates from Edward Roenicke in 1964.We have the original 1964 owner’s manual still in its plastic bag from Chevrolet. The car comes with the original Chevrolet 1964 Owners Protection Plan warranty booklet completed with Edward Roenicke’s owners identification information and signed off on by dealers authorized representive Wendell Bratzel. The car even comes with the registered GM key tags and original packets those came in…- Mr. Roenicke drove this car off the showroom floor but unfortunately died in a traffic accident (not in this car) in December 1964. The car was bought by Edward Roenicke’s son Robert Roenicke and retitled into Roberts name December 30th1964. This is the 1964 original title we still retain. The car would remain in Edward Roenicke’s name from December 1964 until we bought it October 9th2014 from Edward. We offer this car for sale with all the documentation stated above and of course with a complete ownership history and documentation of this 1964 Impala Super Sport back to the day it was driven off the showroom floor…The VIN number on the car is 41447S263119.The cars warranty card lists the car’s engine number as F0428R. The transmission number is S263119. The rear axle number is AM413. The key number is 8246.The Impala has the Super Sport package. The car is a four speed Muncie transmission on the floor and has tachometer and gauges. The car is not perfect butthe car works like it is supposed to and if someone wanted to buy this car and fly in and drive it across the country I would not be scared to attempt any trip in this car. It runs and drives like a dream. The cold engine light still works on the car which is rare.I do not like to sell a car without a full listing of good and areas that are not as good or need a little attention. This car is no exception. The car has had one repaint done on it in 1974. The paint quality back then was not of the quality we expect today. The paint job, while fine for a driver quality car, is by no means show quality. The paint appears to have some fade and finish imperfections and we were told by Robert Roenicke that when he painted it back in 1974 he had painted it in his barn which is not an idea place that undertake such a process which led to some imperfections. If you look closely at the picture you can see what I am talking about. The car has two areas where rust has touched it. The front left lower fender corner needs to be addressed with a small patch panel (see picture) and the small brace under the passenger’s side door on the floor bottom has a small hole on the brace itself. The trunk floor also has an area where the trailer hitch is mounted where the floor is getting thin. The dashboard on the passenger’s side has some cracking as well. The engine was take out and rebuilt and freshened up in the late 1990’s. The work was done by a very reputable local machine shop here in Millstadt. They line bored and decked the block where the stamp pad is on the front right corner of the motor. We believe the bored this original motor 30 over on this rebuild. This is common machine shop practice but wanted to make new owner aware. The one great thing you’re going to find with this car is that there should be no surprises as I have listed everything I can think of and then some.As stated above, this car is like a time warp from 1964.
