1966 Chevrolet C-20 3/4 Ton Stepside Truck
VIN# C2546S150978
I don't know alot about the history of it. Originally came from an older gentlemen from Southeast Texas. Know at one time he had antique license plates on it with plans to fully restore it but never did.
Mechanically: Truck runs and drives, although it is a rough ride with no power steering or power brakes. Brakes need servicing. Floorboards need replacing and the brakes need serviced before driving it too far. It looks like at one point many years ago, it used to have an automatic transmission that was changed to a 4-speed stick shift. Temporary horn button was added to pass Texas inspection. The original center Chevy horn piece that goes on the steering wheel is included, along with some other things as pictured. The previous owners recently replaced the front windshield, gas tank, and it has a new battery. Outside lights and signals work. Mileage shows 32098 but it has probably turned over.
Additional Info: Previous owner thought the original engine was replaced with an old school bus engine..many years ago..and I believe that is when they put in the stickshift..most likely from the same school bus? not sure. Do not know the exact time period. Any input is welcome.
Also: The same VIN# is on the metal frame under hood. Engine is orange. On left side of engine, left back, bottom looks like: "CON2 161".
The "exhaust manifold"? has looks like "3923418 GM 27" .
On engine looks like: "883 10 3994257 GM 7(?).
Cosmetically: It does have some rust. The floorboards are rusted all the way through in spots, and there are a few small holes, spots on body. (see pics) Underneath shows rust although it mainly appears to be surface rust. The rusted bed is a metal welded on bedliner it looks like. You can see some of the boards underneath the liner in the underside pic. There are some small dents and dings here and there on body. It has the original sunvisors that are not attached but will be included. Seats have some holes and wear spots, mainly on drivers side. Tires show wear and there is a very slow air leak on passenger front. Has a caged industrial style tailgate. Glass is in excellent condition. Bed is approx. 8 ft.
It brings smiles to anyone who sees it. You get alot of honks and waves on the road. Cool vintage truck!
