Hot ‘77 280Z! Automatic,Needs Motor Replacement BUTNew Exhaust System by Bob Sharp Mechanic, Low Mileage, Virtually RustFree
This Z is a head turner. It is a rare automatic transmission 1977 Datsun 280Z, super fun to drive and a perfect vehicle for a mechanically-inclined person looking for a bit of a project. As of a month ago, the car does not run. A connecting rod came loose and it needs a new motor. I wanted a Z for a long time, finally got this one in ’09 and love it, but right now I can’t afford the cost of getting the motor replaced.
Despite the current motor issue, this car is otherwise in great condition. It is virtually rust-free and has around 106,000 miles on it. The entire exhaust system was overhauled in 2014 by a Z car master, Vinny Bedini of Bob Sharp Racing in Connecticut. Vinny also replaced the wheels allowing for slightly larger than the original tire size. So the wheels, tires and exhaust system are all new and built by a Z master.
The heater, defrost and window/door sealing were upgraded recently to prevent fogging. A/C, oil gauge, clock and parking brake do not work. The vehicle also has a theft prevention system installed. It's called Ravelco and it requires the driver to plug in a small device under the dash in order to start the car. Without it the car won't start.
A reference to a mechanic who's inspected the car after the connecting rod came loose can be provided.
This car gets tons of attention is a blast to drive! It deserves to be with someone who knows how to get it running again and keep it hummin’.
The car is in Portland, OR. Buyer can pick 'er up or pay to have it shipped. No returns, sold as-is.
