1978 Datsun Z-Series 280Z Description

I bought this car in November of 2015. Seems like i have been working on it the whole time i have had it. There has been a lot of work done by both myself and the previous owner. This Z is a very nice, solid, rust free driver. I will list the work below.
Skinny Chrome Bumper Conversion.
New Radiator and hoses.
Six New Fuel Injectors.
New Brake Master Cylinder, Pads up front.
All Fluids Changed.
New Cap, Rotor, Wires and Spark Plugs.
New Cold Air Intake.
New Fuel Filter.
OE PCV Valve.
New Door Seals.
New Quarter Window Seals.
New Rear Hatch Seals, Both.
New Tail Light Seals.
Replace Dome Light with New OE.
Replace Map Light With OE.
Repair and Clean Seat Belt Retractors.
New Speaker Enclosures with Nice 6x9's.
New Body Badges.
Clay Bar Paint, Polish, Three Coats of Wax.
Lots of Detailing and Cleaning.
DONE BY PREVIOUS OWNER'
New Driver Quality Paint Job. Not a five footer more like a two. Nice but some flaws. Totally presentable ready to show at the local meet.
New Interior including Headliner, Seat Covers, Carpet and Z Floor Mats. Has Nice Door Panels, but not new.
Lowered Suspension
New Aftermarket Wheels, New Tires.
New Battery.
New Starter.
Kenwood KDC-152 Stereo With MP3, WMA and Aux Input.
Engine, transmission, clutch, brakes operate as they should.
Everything works with the exception of the clock and power antenna.
The AC blows nice and cold.
I justdiscovered that the Z will need a new muffler. There is a leak from the oil pan gasket, also the rear transmission seal has a small leak. After being driven I get a couple drops on oil. Neither one of these issues are an emergency and can be done later. I will include and OE pan gasket and transmission seal. None of these jobs are major work and like I said can be done later.
I was planning to do a 2 1/2" exhaust from the stock manifold back. I am includingthe 2 1/2"downpipe should the new owner decide to do the exhaust.
The sale includes the items pictured, center armrest, Original Air Filter and Box, OE oil filter, some misc. parts and lots of receipts. Jack, tools, spare and inflator, original owners manual included.
I havent gotten to drive this car as much as I would have liked to. Our summers are shorter than I would like, and the winter here is cold and snowy. I have only driven the Z locally and not very far. The miles on the OD are not verifiable, but judging by the rust free and solid condition its possible they are original miles. I bought the car in the Los Angeles area. The car is a blue plate California car last registered in 2016. Now located in Northern Nevada. The county I live in has no smog test requirements. All of the equipment is there as far as I can tell. As it was registered in California previously I assume it will pass smog. However, smog test, equipment or any related expense is the responsibility of the BUYER. In my opinion the car is a great driver but the Z is almost forty years old. There are NO WARRANTIES, OR GUARANTEES OF ANY KIND!
Please ask questions, I want the buyer of this Z to be totally satisfied with their purchase. I can take better pictures, weather permitting, of any specific areas or answer any questions you may have. Send me your contact information through Ebay and I will gladly contact you to discuss any questions you have. I also have a walk around video. THANK YOU!

Selling to make room for another project. Looking for a 1979-83' Toyota Landcruiser FJ40. Will trade up for the right one. Thank You.

Actual mileage is 66,656. That shouldn't change as I am unable to drive due to weather.
A common issue on these cars is the Auxillary Air Valve. On cold startup the valve allows more air to pass through to the intake manifold increasing idle. Once the engine reaches a certain temperature valve closes and the engine returns to normal idle. When the valve fails this requires the driver to maintain a higher idle manually until the engine warms up. The process usually takes about 2-3 minutes before the engine reaches operating temperature. The process is complicated by colder temperatures at higher altitudes, it takes longer for the engine to warm up. I am telling you this because, if you live in a warmer climate at a lower altitude it really becomes a non issue. But, if you live at higher altitudes, over 3500ft, it will take longer for your engine to warm up. I know this because when I purchased the Z, in Los Angeles, there wasn't an issue. The altitude there is around 200ft above sea level and the average yearly temperature is around 65 degrees. The day I bought the car, on cold start, it took about 30 seconds before normal idle happened. These valves are no longer available from the manufacturer. You can bypass the valve if you don't mind a higher idle all of the time, or like me, you can just live with it. This Z starts first time everytime you just have to maintain a higher idle manually until the engine warms up.
