1995 Dodge Ram 2500HD 4X4 12 Valve Cummins Diesel Black Extended Cab
1995 Dodge Ram 2500 SL Description
I purchased this new from dealer on 12/21/94. I added two quarts of "Dura Lube" at the very first oil change. It was thought at the time to be better than Slick 50. A friend of mine that knows these engines had me plug the crankcase breather. He felt for blow-by at the oil filler and said it had very little. I became interested in these 'B' model Cummins when reading "Ground Support Equipment", a journal for mechanics at airlines. The Bosch P7100 injection pump was made to handle kerosene & Jet fuel as well as diesel fuel. So the legacy began.
I adjusted all the valves at 100,000 mile, a little more at 200,000. I checked again last summer at over 300,000 and nothing needed adjustment. No wonder they call these Cummins a 'million mile motor'. I changed oil and oil filter every 3,000 mi. for the first 100,000. I was using Rotella T. It got expensive and realized I was babying it. So I changed engine oil every 6,000 from then on. Fuel filter changed once a year, usually in October.
I actually got about 186,000 miles out of the original 47RH automatic transmission. One annoying fact; the torque converter clutch engages and disengages randomly. This means when cruising and the torque converter is locked up, the engine will surge about 300RPM, stay there or come back down. It has no effect on driveability but really annoying. It has been doing this since 17,000 miles on the clock and that is the truth. The dealer never got it fixed under warranty. So I just keep on driving it like 'honey badger'. The problem is not with the transmission as it was replaced and the annoyance persisted. I suspect a wire having to do with the transmission temp sensor is at play but never chased it down.
So what happened? While I had the dash out to replace the heater core, the wind blew a motorcycle over onto the dash cracking it to pieces. Subsequently the heat for defrost poured out at the center of the windshield, causing a thermal crack during winter defrosting. The headliner has dried out and is missing the fabric cover. It has been hit by drunk drivers and front end loaders and other farm equipment. Thank you very much for the money in my pocket when I really needed it. Cruise control switches went out about 150,000. Now they are due again. I am including a 'fits-all' knob ( pliers ) to control the heating and air as I am not buying anymore worthless knobs from Dodge.
I have the receipts for the work and service listed below. Other than that, lets see; I think it was about 200,000 I did the heater core and new brushes in the alternator. New belt tensioner and belt about 285,000 mi. (Spring 2014) . The batteries are very good but I don't have receipt and can't remember exactly when they were replaced last.
Oh, one other thing. The air bag has never blown but I took out the control module when my baby was born and needed to place his car seat in the middle. These models never had a switch to turn off the air bag. The module is included.

I am the original owner so pardon me for the long story on this vehicle. I would not be selling it except that its true what they say, "Ya can't take it with ya" I am moving oversea and selling out everything I have here in the States. I ordered this truck and waited eight weeks for it to come in. No radio, rubber floor matt instead of carpet, no power windows because my truck is for working. The Air Conditioner is still working good. For pleasure I drive a Z06. Its also for sale in my other auctions. ($10,000 starting bid no reserve)
For pick up only in Nowata, Oklahoma. Please pay in cash and pick up within seven days of auction close. I have already had to reschedule my flight.
