1996 Viper RT10 Gun Metal Pearl Paint
1996 Dodge Viper RT-10 Description
You gotta love the early Viper roadsters. It has a body built for sin with nothing else added into the mix. The giant motor was cloaked in a minimalist swoopy design that earned its snake bitten name. The Gun Metal Pearl paint, and matching black wheels, make this one look like it's trying to appear innocent, but we all know better. Those dual black racing stripes are iconic classic American that also remind you of the Viper's true all-out sporting nature. Inside, it's all about the right equipment for a pure speed machine. The black leather bucket seats keep you planted behind the wheel, and there's no room for sliding around in an interior that completely envelopes the driver. Your arm fits so that your favorite resting spot is right on top of the gear leaver. A full gauge package is at eye level, and the black-on-white background readouts couldn't be simpler. There is room for a bit of luxury such as Kenwood stereo, and air conditioning. The leather on the wheel, gearshift, and parking brake are a nice touch. The dash and other pieces are painted the same Gun Metal Pearl as the the exterior. Tilt that large hood forward, and there's no mistaking the Viper's gorgeous red cast aluminum intake manifold and valve covers . This all original powerplant holds a nice upgrade that happened in 1996. This one is quite desirable because the power in the 8.0-liter V10 jumped from 400 hp to 415 hp. You get complete control of this via six-speed overdrive manual transmission that then sends the power to a beefy 3.73 limited slip. This backed up by a fully independent suspension, large four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, and super-sticky Michelin Pilot tires. While all of this keeps the Viper nicely on everything from the backroads to the racetrack, you are pure intimidation just standing still thanks to rumbling sports exhaust. Best of all, starting in '96 it was exiting out of the rear instead of the sides, so you don't have to worry about burning you leg when exiting. The car was an original black car with silver stripes. 3 years ago we had it repainted a beautiful Gun Metal Pearl Metallic. You can see in the pictures that the car looks different colors depending on the viewing angle. The factory 3.07 rear gears were replaced with 3.73 gears. What a HUGE difference that made. Car is MUCH faster. We also installed a K&N cold air intake. The only reason we are selling the car is because we just bought a 2006 SRT10 Viper. I've included a picture of them together and a picture of the car before we repainted it. The original paint was gorgeous. We just wanted something different.
