1937 Dodge D5 4dr Sedan with stock 218 ci motor, 3 speed floor shift transmission. The car starts and drives very nice for 78 year old technology (battery low, it hasn’t been started since last Fall, will try to charge)…..it’s slow by today’s standards.Does not smoke or have engine rattles. Speedometer reads 47822 – engine mileage unknown.I do know the car sat in storage in San Francisco for about 30 years before restoration about 20 years ago and has been driven less than a few of thousand miles since then.Since restoration it has been used for a “wedding car”, parades, car shows and for other special events. The only thing that doesn’t appear to be original is the upholstery material and the color of the paint.
The paint is single stage and buffs out very nice. There are small little chips but not very noticeable from 5 feet. There is one curb scrape on the driver’s side front fender (noted in pictures). It has been well maintained and been kept in dry storage when not in use……which is most of the time. There doesn’t seem to be any rust issues.
1.New carburetor and master cylinder have recently been installed.
2.Mechanical issues appear to be:
slight leak of the driver’s side wheel cylinder
throttle linkage at the floorboard needs attention (wobbles)
3.Driver’s side wing window and rear door glass are cracked.
4.All body/door seals do not leak and no moisture inside.
5.Headliner is very nice but has slight wrinkle on each side of the rear windows. This can be tightened very easily. (note in pictures)
6.Running board rubbers look nice but the glue started to come loose.I mistakenly used gorilla glue in a couple of spots but it expanded and shows a few bubbles.I do have another strip of rubber running board material to cover both sides and will come with the car.
7.Speedo was repainted by hand and doesn’t look the greatest (noted in pictures).
8.Equipped with the original radio (check center of dash) and I do have the original floor mounted speaker box but has never been installed or tested.
9.Equipped with rear window shade.
10. Front windshield crank mechanism inoperative; handle turns, strap band probably broken, but window does open manually.
