1997 Dodge Ram 2500 Quad Cab Long Bed 4WD Description

1997 Dodge 2500 4x4 Cummins Turbo Diesel Extended Cab Low Mileage
Truck is simultaneously listed locally on Denver Gregslist so this auction may be pulled at any time of it sells locally or if someone makes me a completely awesome offer that I simply cant refuse.
The reserve is 8000$, though I might entertain offers lower. Who knows. I bought this truck for 10,000$ put around 1700$ into it, lots of time into it and it runs great so I feel its worth it.

I'd like to have this find a new home, let me know if your interested!

Up for sale is my 1997 Dodge 2500 4x4 Cummins Turbo Diesel Extended Cab Laramie SLT with a 48re and ultra low mileage, 167,000+ miles. I purchased the truck in January of 2015, (mileage was 167,000) from a car dealership in northern Colorado who didn't disclose it had a engine swap done from the original V10 (I will no longer do business with car dealerships) I have basically put 1,000 miles on it in 46 or so months. Within a month of the truck being sold to me the transmission went out and I didn't touch it after a few months of deliberation I took it upon my self to rebuild the transmission. Upon pulling the engine and transmission it was discovered that the engine had a cracked cylinder head. I replaced the cylinder head and then rebuild the transmission using a stronger 48RE (has a stronger planetary gearset) and a ATS valve body that has a significantly stronger Governor pressure solenoid, OD solenoid, lockup solenoid and a more robust governor pressure transducer. I also groomed over the electronics and changed the PCM to the proper Cummins PCM. I am a electrical engineer and have been rebuilding engines and transmissions since I was around 15 years old so I know exactly what I am doing in regards to the electrical system and the power train on this.

Mechanically, the truck is in fantastic shape and I would drive this to Alaska right now if I needed to.

I planned on keeping this truck for a long time so something could be done preventative, it was done and the work I have done to fix this truck reflect that.

The P7100 has never been "turned up" to roll coal or make power or whatever. I've never been into diesel performance so I can give you my word 100% that I dont care about thrashing on this truck or make it go fast.

I'm unsure of the manufacturer of the exhaust, it does sound really good.

It drives straight as an arrow and there is no typical Dodge wandering in the steering.

The valve cover gaskets were also just replaced along with the tappet cover, front cover.

I have drove this around lately about once a week to keep the battery's charged and it runs great.

Overall, the interior is in very good shape. Carpet is in good shape, it's original. Though it could use a vacuum job.

The issues: The paint is flaking off like all 1995-1997 dodges do, I am sure that dodge had some sort of environmental incentive to create such awful paint for those years. My dad paints cars so if you want a coat of paint on it I might be able to entertain that, though don't expect a free bee.

The AC heat exchanger on the front of the truck always leaked so I removed it. Its winter so I saw no need to put a new one in until the summer.

Additional info

Unfortunately, like all white Dodges of the era, the sun burned off most of original paint.

There are a few small dents, most notable on the passenger door.
I looked up the engine and it was either a 94 or 95 with around 200k on it. I was going to rebuild the whole thing but upon looking it over I determined the bottom end was in really good shape. It did not appear to it to be worth the cost of machine work, time and money invested to do the bottom end. If the engine had over 350k on it, or it burned oil, or had blow-by or if the cylinders didn't still have plenty of cross hatch I would have rebuilt it. But it looked to be in great shape. It doesn't burn oil even when cold, it has good oil pressure, and will start right up even when its cold out and not plugged in.
I am sure I am missing something.
I am sure there might be a nicer 12 valve cummins out there but this one has been gone over by a engineer who has 10 years of DOD electrical experience and a person who has been building engines for around 16 years and 100% mechanically ready to go, looks fantastic as well. Please keep in mind, this truck is almost 20 years old and has a convoluted history, I am disclosing all problems because I am not a car dealer, I am a honest person who sleeps great at night. As per Wyoming and Colorado law I do not have to disclose it had any drive train modifications done including the engine swap, but I am a honest person.
I have tried to represent the truck accurately and in detail.
I am not a car salesman and will answer question honestly and to the best of my ability.
Why am I selling it? I bought a 24 valve 4wd and no longer need this truck, I really like the newer microprocessor operated diesels and don't like mechanical injection that much.
The truck is used and therefore there is no warranty expressed or implied and is being sold as is.
The engine had all its covers powder-coated silver by me, I ran out of black and wanted to get the truck back in one piece before winter and wanted a coat that would last longer then spray paint. There are trucks on here that have three times the miles going for the same price and have been abused by "chips, tuners and fuel plates". I'd like to part ways with this truck, if your interested, hit me up. Email me and we will go from there
Shipping. I am not responsible for this vehicles shipping, you can drive it home or load it on a trailer or whatever, I will have nothing to do with the shipping. Please do not ask me to load it on a trailer or shipping company. If you buy this truck from me you will come here person to person and take it off my hands. Thank you!
