1959 Dodge Other Pickups Description
1959 Dodge D200 pickup with 90,000 original miles. Extremely original two-owner Colorado truck, that was moved to CA in 2003. Truck is currently registered and plated in CA through April 2017.
Second owner bought truck from widow of original owner in 1987 after the truck had sat for 25 years and stored in a garage. Engine was rebuilt and the body painted in the original color and used as daily driver until the second owner retired in 2003 and moved to California. It has since been garage stored, mechanically maintained and driven occasionally.
Engine was rebuilt at 75,000 miles and bored .30 over with larger pistons. The truck maintains great oil pressure and has a ton of torque. Most mechanical items have been rebuilt or replaced at one time or another, and almost everything on the truck has been maintained in working order. Original radiator and heater core have been rebuilt. Petronix electronic ignition was installed so no points to replace. Axles and drive line have been rebuilt. Newer battery and all lights work (headlights, brake lights, dash and turn signals). Carburetor has been rebuilt and a replacement original style fuel pump has been installed. Truck runs outstanding and drives great. Clutch is getting worn and will need replaced at some point (depending on time, I may have this done before selling).
Tires are in great condition with approximately 90% tread remaining. Brakes have been replaced and rebuilt. Oil is freshly changed and all fluids are clean. Original wheels have been powder coated. Rear bumper is from a 1966 Dodge truck and has been powder coated as well.
Interior is original with exception of driver's door that was replaced with one that was rust free. Gauges work with exception of fuel gauge. Original steering wheel (original horn/center cap included with sale). Original seat has been recovered once and needs to be recovered due to wear. Original seat material and pad can be seen in the pictures. Interior door panels, that are off in pictures, come with truck. Headliner is missing and needs replaced. Glove box liner has dried out and needs replaced. Rubber shift boot is missing but metal bracket that holds it in place come with the truck. Lap seat belts were installed for safety and legal driving. Replacement parts for both body, mechanical and interior are readily available online and most parts stores still carry many items such as filters, etc.
Original steel bed and tailgate still on truck. Bed is in decent shape but has some waves and a couple holes in the bed floor from a life of use. Truck is very heavy duty and can tow or haul a very heavy load.
The truck is very straight and relatively solid. There is a rust through area on driver's side foot well a couple small spots on right front fender. Photos show rust areas to include some small rust spots on driver's bedside that have been ground down. Primer has been sprayed on areas where paint was thinning to prevent rust. Floor of cab is very solid and cab mount areas were replaced over 25 years ago and are still solid. I have the hood side chrome trim pieces and Dodge lettering, the antenna and original horn. I also have a shop manual and service procedure manual that go with the truck.
Overall, this is a very honest truck that runs and looks great. Excellent candidate for restoration or drive confidently and enjoy it just as it is. The truck gets compliments every time I take it out and will run for a long, long time. They just don't build them like this anymore.
