2005 Dodge Magnum RT Description

For sale, I have a 2005 Dodge Magnum RT with 5.7 Hemi.

The car has 135,000 miles on it with a new short block engine built in Pompano. The car runs but the engine makes a ticking sound that comes from the top center of the passenger side head. We believe it is a bent valve, bent rocker or a sticking rocker/roller/valve. I have not removed the valve cover to inspect further.

When I had the shop install a new short block they did not replace the gaskets for the timing cover or water pump so after 5000 miles of driving the gaskets started leaking. As I removed all parts to replace the gaskets we noticed the tensioner on the timing chain was worn and needed to be replaced. We replaced the timing chain and put everything back together. When we started the engine we noticed a slight ticking on the right side of the engine.

I don’t have the time or money to attempt any further repair so I am offering the vehicle AS IS in non-running condition.

If you purchase the car I suggest picking it up with a trailer as I would not risk running the engine again. Below is a video of the engine running the first and only time I fired it up after the repair.

The air intake shown in the video has been changed out for another aftermarket intake. The Airaid intake is not part of this sale.

Please read below for thePRO'sof this vehicle.

1.When I replaced the timing chain and tensioner I also replaced the water pump and all gaskets with Victor Reinz gaskets.

2.I cleaned the throttle body valve and added a new gasket

3.A complete coolant flush and fill with new coolant.

4.The engine also had an oil change at the same time.

5.The transmission was recently serviced, I did not flush it, I only replaced the oil and filter and gasket, and this was done at the dealership.

6.All sensors on the engine have been replaced including the knock sensors, Oil temp, cam and timing and oil pressure.

7.New alternator

8.New power steering pump

9.New motor mounts were installed when the new engine was installed.

10.Within the past year, I have replaced all 4 shocks with new mounts.

11.The entire front suspension was rebuilt within the past 2 years with quality parts.

12.Along with new inner and outer tie rods

13.All new sway bar bushings.

14.An alignment was also completed within the past six months right after I replaced the shocks.

15.Air conditioning blows cold and strong. The entire AChas been replaced3 years ago under extended warranty.

16.The tires have about 2000 miles on them.

17. The car has a dual 40 seriesMagnaflowexhaust.

The condition of the inside of the car is fair to good. Some minor rips on the driver’s side chair and the LED's on the AC controls are burnt out. I did my best throughout the years to keep the leather clean. The headliner is clean and the car still has the original floor mats andpleatherrear pull out cover. The car does have some rustatthe top rear where the hatch opens up and the hood has some rust bubbling on the front lip. Keep in mind this car is now 12 years old.

Once repaired, the car will drive like a dream, it just needs a patient person to diagnose the ticking problem and it will be a great ride once again.
