1963 Dodge D-100 Town Wagon Panel Truck (Yellow & White).... Great Inside & Out!
1963 Dodge Other Description
For your consideration, here's a rare 1963 Dodge D-100 Town Wagon in great condition, inside and out. Other than several years in Ohio, this vehicle has spent most of its life in Arizona, thus it's pretty much rust free. It got a new coat of yellow paintin 2012 (a complete body off paint job, with the interior getting the same yellow paint as the exterior). In 2015, I purchased the Town Wagon and had the top, headlight bezels, grill tube and bumpers painted off-white by Affordable Auto Painting here in Tucson to echo the look of the original two-tone '63 Town Wagon paint configuration..... bonus: it no longer looks like Big Bird's ride. The underside is in very nice condition (see pics), as well, thanks to its dry life in Arizona. The underside is all original..... no repaired floor panels which are quite common in these vehicle.
As you can see in the pics, the interior is excellent. The original headliner was put back in place after the interior was painted in 2012 (excuse the light reflections in pic). The seats are all original except the front seats have been recovered. There are no rips and very little wear to the seats. It appears that nobody ever sat in back. The back seat and middle seat are easily removed to create lots of floor space. In fact, I removed the rear full bench seat and had Tucson's P&L Auto Upholstery fabricate a rug for the back area, move the spare to a rear side mount, add lap belts for the front and middle seats and fabricate a side board where the spare use to be mounted. It looks beauteous and creates room for general hauling, dog hitchhikers, etc...... although it's so nice I never used the area for hauling or to transport our dogs. The rug pulls right up and the rear bench seat can be reinstalled in minutes, however you will have to pull the spare off the mount. Note: The rear full bench seat is included and will be stored in the rear area during shipment, so the new owner can decide how to configure the rear area. The interior also has a relatively new (Nov. 2015 install) Kenwood KDC-X599 Receiver w/remote & cell phone access and Kenwood KFC6965S 3-way speakers in wedge boxes..... awesome sound in a spacious chamber!
All the locks, lights and gauges work well, and the Town Wagon drives like a champ. It has chrome rims and tires with plenty of life left. The original engine has been replaced by a superior, rebuilt 1966 Dodge 318 Poly engine. It is a 210 H.P. V8 with 2 barrel carburetor, so it actually gets decent gas mileage (15 to 19 MPG). This engine purrs like a kitten and is very clean (again, see pics). It has newer dualexhaust withchrome tips. It has the original 4 speed gearbox which works smoothly. It starts easily every time..... one to two pumps when cold and you're good to go. There's 54,042 miles on the odometer which probably translates to 154,042.
Regarding paperwork, the records for work done prior to my ownership were lost in transit by the shipper, but it's clear with quick inspection that the paint job was a frame off job and the vintage engine is rebuilt, clean and a V8. All my paperwork and receipts since I've owned it will be included along with theoriginal Operator's Manual and 2 sets of ignition and door lock keys.
Work done by Milex Auto Service Center in Tucson includes purchase and installation of a Holley Carburetor conversion kit, electric choke, air cleaner, brake hoses, front brake shoes, wheel cylinders & seals, brake drums, wheel studs, drag kit, king pin kit, tie rod sleeve & dust boots, new battery, master brake cylinder, new horn, dome light assembly & switch, headlight switch & knob and fuel sender float. Approximately $10,200 in repairs and upgrades has been invested since I purchased this classic Town Wagon as the included receipts will confirm. Clearly, much bigger bucks were invested prior to my ownership.
If you've done any research on Dodge D-100 Town Wagons, you're aware these are relatively scarce in general and quite rare in this condition. Now's your chance to own this unique ride!.... a real head turner and a hoot to drive if you love vintage trucks/panels.
