THERE IS NO REASON WHY YOU COULDN’T TAKE THIS BEAUTIFUL 1935 FORD TO ANY LOCAL OR REGIONAL CAR SHOW AND SHOW IT WITH PRIDE AND PROBABLY COME AWAY WITH AN AWARD. THIS CLASSIC ISN’T A TRAILER QUEEN, BUT IT IS DAMN CLOSE.
THESE 2 DOOR SLANT BACK MODELS ARE HARD TO FIND, AND THIS MODEL 48 DELUXE IS OPTIONED OUT HANDSOMELY. IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE THIS IS AN 81 YEAR OLD CAR. YOU WOULD NEVER KNOW BY LOOKING AT.
.
THE1935 MODEL 48 IS THE 1ST YEAR FOR THIS NEW SLEEKER BODY STYLING AND THE LAST YEAR FORD USED THE SPECIAL STEEL SPOKE WHEELS.
This vehicle is powered by a 221 cubic-inch eight cylinder engine that produces 85 horsepower. Four-wheel mechanically-actuated drum brakes provide the stopping power. The three-speedsliding gearmanual transmission sends power to the rear wheels and three-quarter floating rear axle. It starts and drives as it should. The engine is strong and responsive with a deep glass pack rumble. No smoke, no leaks and no funny noises.
The gas, oil, amps, temperature, trip meter and speedometer all work. Headlights, brake lights and turn signals work. There is a very thin crack in the drivers rear window as a result of a careless worker. The fuel pump and carburetor have been rebuilt and refurbished. It is wired for an electric fuel pump if desired.
A redesign to the Ford V-8 in 1935 moved the engine forward eight inches and increased the size of the passenger compartment. The radiator grille was now even with the front fenders and the hood decreased in length. Ford dubbed this redesign the 'Center-Poise Ride'.
Few Ford enthusiasts would dispute Ford’s claim of “Greater Beauty, Greater Comfort and Greater Safety” for its 1935 models. The narrower radiator grille lost its sharp veed base and four horizontal bars helped accentuate the 1935 models new, lower and more streamlined appearance.
The fender outlines were now much more rounded and the side louvers received three horizontal bright stripes. In profile, the Ford windshield was seen to be more sharply sloped then previously.
The headlight shells are painted the body color and the park lights are integral with the headlights. Both the Standard and Deluxe models shared a painted dash finish, with the Deluxe model having a set of chrome bars running down the center section of the dash. External distinctions were obvious. Bright trim work, dual exposed horns and twin tail lights.
All of the pictures are recent, unedited and are exactly what the new owner can expect upon delivery.
It’s time for my next project. This rare beauty must go.
