1965 Ford Mustang Sport Roof Fast Back Description

Hello, let me start by saying that I realize how stressful it can be to buy a vehicle sight un-seen. I don't think a paragraph & 2 or 3 pictures is enough to accurately describe any vehicle, let alone a51 year old classic. I want you to know everything I know about anything I list. For that reason, my postings tend to be a little on the long side. I also post 24 super sized pictures. Please take the time to read the item description & view the pictures. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. I have sold classic vehicles to buyers all over the world & everyone seems to be very happy with what they buy from me. I'm sure you will be also. This rare, virtually rust free, V8, manual transmission, 1st year, fastback with donor coupeis a truly worth while project. With this conversion you will save thousands of dollars & countless man hours in metal work alone.Plus, when you are finished, you will have a 1965 Mustang Fastback that is 100% 1965 Ford metal! No repop panels or pans at all! Much better than one of the aftermarket steel bodies people are building these days. They build those because you can't find a steel fastback worth investing in these days. But this is one! And unlike those aftermarket bodies, this rust free steel body project has factory original 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback VIN numbers! This is a true auction.....NO RESERVE..... High bidder wins!!! DESCRIPTION-I started this project by purchasing a really rough 1965 Mustang Fastback body. It was someone else's failed restoration. As you can see in the pictures, they had replaced the quarters & rockers & were trying to build a car out of aftermarket everything. It just never works out & the cost is astronomical. Going at in that waywas just a lost cause. However, theowner did have 90% of the hard to findFastback specific parts &both sets offactory fender apronVIN stampings. The car codes to be a 1965 Mustang Fastback Built In Dearborn Michigan and powered by a C-code 289 V8. He also had several brand new restoration parts. So, I bought the car with the intentions of doing a coupe to fastback conversion. Next I set out searching for the perfectdonor coupe.I was quite lucky to find this coupe. Itwas a 1-owner, central GA car which had spent most of it's life in a garage. The owner passed away several years ago & the car went down hill. It was to the point that the original 6 cylinder engine would no longer run. The tires were rotten & flat so the car couldn't be easily moved anymore. The owner's widow gave the car to her 14 year old grandson who immediately removed and discarded the straight six engine & the FACTORY 3-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. This car has a factory rust freemanual transmission floor pan! The original manual pedals are still in place. So are all the clutch linkages! As you probably know, there is no difference between a 3-speed or 4-speed floor pan. Though the kid didn't know what he was doing, he actually did a lot of the tear down work for you! He took care to box or bag every bolt & screw. He took care not to damage anything as he removed it. He was very careful with all of the chrome & trim. All of the interior panels are there. All of the seats are there & in excellent condition. The front buckets are exactly the same for the coupe &fastback! He really did save you days of work. Plus, him getting everything out of the way so I could actually see, let mediscover that this is the most solid 1st gen Mustang I have ever been fortunate enough to run across! Other than some minor surface corrosion here & there, THIS IS A TOTALLY RUST FREE CAR! All of the panels are original & free from rust or prior rust repair. The frame rails are perfect & all are original to this car. The torque boxes & rocker panels are rust free & original to this car. The rear quarters are rust free, repair free & original. The trunk drop offs, rear inner fender wells, tail panel, truck weather stripping lip are rust & repair free. Both doors are totally rust free. No rot or repairs on either the skins or structures. There is no rust in the wiper cowl. No rust in the manual transmission specific firewall. No rust around the windshield or the dash board. Not even any heavy pitting, pin holes, repairs, NOTHING under the battery tray or on either of the front frame rails! There's no rust in the hood. No rust in the trunk lid. And very importantly!!!! There is nothing more than light surface corrosion on the entire manual floor pan! Not even a single pin hole that I can find anywhere! Not in the toe boards. Not in the front or rear seat pans. None! No rust through that I can find anywhere on this entire car! That alone is huge! It makes your build so much easier. So much cheaper. And your finished product so much more valuable! Plus this body is extremely straight! I found a couple of small areas of filler & scraped them away in order to expose the factory metal. There was NO RUST found in these areas either! The filler was there to level very minor, very shallow indentations. Nothing that will require any serious work at all. The filler was used to cover what amounts to nothing more than a couple of door dings. The car is amazing! So this coupe by itself would be worth building. Easily turned intoa V8, 4-Speed Coupe or GT350 Coupe clone. All you would need is a donor V8 coupe fender apron number & you could make this car a REAL DEAL whatever you want & no one could argue it was not that way from the factory. Just as you can make this car a REAL DEAL V8 / 4-speed Fastback using the roof & fender number stampings from the 1st year Fastback included in this listing! You see Ford Motor Company did not keep detailed records until 1967. So there is no way to prove or disprove anything at all by the numbers, other than the fact that this Fastback is a true 1965 V8 Fastback. Once you swap the roof, apron stampings & a few other parts, the rust free coupe included with this listing becomes that Fastback & no one can argue it's not. Thenthere is the question of whichfactoryoptions the car came with. Those are denoted ona tag rivetedto the driver's door on all 1965 Mustangs. Since this car was built prior to Ford keeping detailed records, there is no way of knowing what options this 1965 Fastbackwas born with. That is a WONDERFUL thing! You would think it would be a road block not to have the factory tag but it's the exact opposite. You see, a man named Kevin Marti purchased the record rights to many models of classic Fords. He thenformed a company called Marti Auto Works. He now sells reports on what optionsFord vehicles came from the factory with for many models 1967 & up. They are called... Marti Reports. He is alsolicensed to produce & sell factory correct Data Plates & Door Tags. He even sells the factory rivets to attach the new plate to the door! Now for the wonderful part.Since this car was built before detailed records were kept, even Kevin Marti has no way of knowing what options came on this car. Due to the lack of records, you can simply choose the info you want stamped on your new tag from the options availableon a V8 Fastback Mustangbuilt in 1965. He will produce a tag for you with the VIN found on the apron stampingsincluded in this listing & whatever other info you tell him to include on the tag. You get to pick if the car was factory equipped witha 3-speed or 4-speed manual transmission! You get to choose the rear end type & ratio! You get to pick both interior & exterior colors for your new, 100% factory metal, rust free, V8, manual trans, 1st year Fastback Mustang! Marti Auto Works will then produce your tag for only $25.00! Fully licensed through Ford! Plus you can purchase the factory correct rivetsfor only $3.00more!You can verify all of the info I have just provided by visiting martiauto.com & reading over the (body tag) section. FASTBACK PARTS INCLUDED-All of the parts included are from a real, true, factory produced, 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback. First & foremost is the Fastback shell itself. What you see is how I got it. I was told that the car was being used as a drag car in the 70's & 80's. It had big radiused fenders & a tubbed back half. It had sheet metal floors & a fiberglass nose. The owner hit the wall with the car many many years ago. Pulled in into his back field & never touched it again. The man I bought it from had purchased the car with the hopes of turning it back into a street car but got in way over his head. After he took the Mustang apart, he found that the only thing that was useable for a stock restoration was the roof down to the upper quarters. It still has the factory original windshield pillars & the factory trunk jam! All you need to do a coupe conversion! The roof is very solid! Only a handful of tiny pinholes in the skin & no rust at all in the structure! The previous owner was unaware of how simple itwould have beento install his roof onto a coupe body! He had everything you need! Simply drill out the lower spot welds on the coupe's windshield pillars, cut the rear roof sail panels & upper quarters, cut the taillight panel & remove the coupe roof. Trim the fastback metal to fit, sit it in place, line up the windshield pillars, a little minor welding & BAM... You got yourself a Fastback mustang! You can dothe above described conversion quite easily with the rust free coupe & Fastback partsincluded in this auction! He, on the other hand, chose to do it the hard way & never finish. He did install a new set of rocker. He installed a new set of full quarter panels. All that work & money & time just wasted. You are just going to cut all of the new parts back off. Or maybe you are going to build the coupe as a coupe & sell the Fastback? Or if need be, I will cut the replacement panels off of the Fastback roof section & strap it to the hood of the coupe car for ease of transport. That way you will be trailering or paying to transport only one vehicle. I will ready the car for transport at no charge. Also included in this listing are several hard to find, Fastback specific parts. (1) Both factory fender apron VIN number stampings from the above mentioned 1965 V8 Fastback which was being used as a drag car. (2) The factory Fastback rear windshield which to the best of my knowledge is no longer being produced. This glass is in very good condition & free from cracks or any noticeable imperfections. I do not have a windshield though it is the same as a coupe & still mass produced. I also do not have fastback specific door glasses which are also mass produced. The rust free doors themselves on this coupe are exactly the same as fastback door & will accept the fastback door glass.(3) The super hard to find, definitely not reproduced, fastback only, trunk lid spring! I do not have a Fastback trunk lid but they ARE being reproduced in steel & are inexpensive. The spring is the rare part! (4) The entirefold down rear seat assembly. These are NOT being reproduced & are increasingly hard to find. I have every single piece& all are included! I have the seat bottom. The seat backrest. The fold down cargo floor panel with trap door. Plus all of the little brackets & clamps with aren't being reproduced! (5) Both outer Fastback sail panel vents with both inner vent mechanisms & both interior sail panels. (6) Severalbrand new window seals. (7) A brand new GT chrome grille bar, complete with both brand new chrome GT fog light pods, two brand new OE for light bulbs! Plus brand new GT fog light wiring harness & switch kit.

TITLE- Ga does not require a title on any motor vehicle older than 1986. As a result neither the fastback nor coupe donor have an actualtitle. However, I will provide you with a nationally recognized, state issued, T-7 Bill Of Sale for both cars individually. I will also provide you with an official letter from theState Of Gaconfirming that 1965 model vehicles are exempt from title here in GA. That paperwork should get you a title in your home state, providing your state requires a title on this vehicle. I have sold classic vehicles to buyers all over the US & every singlepurchaser has been able to obtain a title on their vehicle. I have sold many that have been exported overseas without issuebased onthe same paperwork. I see no reason you will have an issue. Also, as a last resort, there are companies who do nothing but reissue titles for classic vehicles. There is a small fee involved but I have never heard of them failing to provide an actual title for any of their customers.

BIDDING- Please only bid what you are prepared to pay for this vehicle. Anyone wishing to inspect this projector haveit inspected is welcome to do so but inspections must be completed prior to bidding & prior to auction's end. If you have little or no feedback please do not bid without first sending me your contact info through the ASK SELLER A QUESTION link in this listing so that we can speak on the phone prior to you placing your bid. I have encountered a couple of crooks/ scammers here on eBay who have cost me both time & money. This will no longer be tolerated so if you are not a SERIOUS buyer, PLEASE MOVE ON. All members with a genuine interest in this vehicle are more than welcome to ask questions. All will be answered promptly. If you look at my feedback comments you will see that all of the REAL buyers have been very happy after dealing with me. Many of the comments are from people who have been very happy withclassiccarsthey have bought from me.

SHIPPING- Shipping costs & arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer. However, I have assisted buyers & their shippers in the pickup of several vehicles over the years. I can recommend several shippers who have performed well for buyers in the past but you will have to make your own arrangements with them. I will work with you & your shipper so that they can get thisproject to you as fast & cost effectively as possible. However, no matter where you live or how you choose to pay, the legal point of sell will be here in GEORGIA as that is where I live & where the vehicle is located. As always, you are more than welcome to pick this vehicle up in person. I have sold many vehicles to overseas buyers & have no problem with that. However, I do ask international / overseas bidders to contact me prior to bidding.

If you have been shopping for a Fastback to build, I don't think you could ask for anything better than this rare opportunity! Thiswill bea very easy project to complete, as far as projects go. There is no sheet metal to purchase or replace. The body is straight & clean. I installed a whole set ofbrand new tires sothis project can be moved around easily.95% of the parts you need are here. All of the hard to find things are here!It is going to take time, money & effort to complete but when you are done, you will have aREAL DEAL, 1st year, Mustang Fastback, V8, Manual Transmission, in your choice of colors & that is all original rust free Ford metal! Many projects are dirty, greasy, rusty, money pits that are a pain to build & worth something less than your investment when finally completed. This is NOT that kind of project! This is a clean, solid, rare, iconic, American legend that will ALWAYS have value! There were over 500,000 Mustangs built in 1965. The first full year of production for themodel & theintroduction year for the fastback. Out of half a million cars, only 77,079 were fastbacks. That sounds like a big number but when it comes to cars, it's very a very small amount! They make literally millions of Honda Accords each year. Only 77,000 first year fastbacks & that was over 50 years ago! How many worth while projects do you think are left? My guess is very few! This is a virgin car. You are not restoring somethingthat's been rebuilt 20 times before by 20 people who didn't know what they were doing. You are starting with a super clean slate. It's hard to find them like this. I hope you get it!

thanks, JD
