1951 Ford Country Squire Woody Description

1951 Ford Country Squire Woody Wagon project car. Ford Flathead V8 with automatic transmission. Originally dark green with brown/tan interior. This is the last year of the real Ford Woody and the only year a Woody was available with an automatic transmission. I believe they made about 2,800 Woody’s in 1951 and only about 700 had automatics. Has all 3 rows of seats and what appears to be a Fulton sun visor.

The car needs a complete restoration but it appears that pretty much all the parts are there. Much of the front end is just loosely bolted on so you can see what’s there and for shipping purposes. That is why everything isn’t properly aligned. This car looks mostly original and not modified. It has been garaged for the last 20 plus years but obviously spent time outside before that in the wet Washington weather which deteriorated the wood. There is a picture with all the parts that come with the car, some of the parts a duplicates. I think a few parts may not even go to this car but I figured better safe than sorry.

The metal portions of the body are straight with no obvious dents. There is rust in the front floors, front lower fenders, rocker panels, rear quarters and below the rear tailgate. Rear floor has just a little rust on driver’s side and the floor under the very back section looks very solid. Door jambs look good. Glass all looks good. There is an extra rear door with both glass pieces to replace one missing on car. Looks like all chrome is present. Most of wood comes with car but it is in very bad shape and needs to be replaced.

The interior looks very original, complete and in decent shape overall. From looking at other 51’s it appears that the upholstery, door panels, headliner, etc are all original. It does have all 3 original seats, 2ndone folds down and the 3rdone is easily removable. Front seat is a little torn up where driver sits but other two seats look pretty good.

Has a Flathead 8 that turns over by hand but hasn’t been run in many years. Looks pretty complete but not all hooked up. Automatic trans is in place but driveline is removed. Brakes do not work but steering works as it should and tires all hold air so it can be loaded onto a transporter. Still even have the keys for it. Comes with a rebuilt fuel pump and one extra rebuilt water pump.

I am selling this car for a family member who owned it for a long time but never got around to restoring it. I am far from an expert on this era of Ford but don’t be afraid to ask questions or for additional pictures.

Car is sold as is where is with no warranty expressed or implied. It is available for inspection by appointment only. I have done my best to describe it accurately but please understand that this is a 65 year old car that needs restoration. I have sold quite a few cars on ebay and try very hard to describe them accurately and to make sure potential buyers have any information I would want as a buyer. International buyers are welcome. In fairness to all bidders I will not disclose the reserve. I reserve the right to end the auction early, however, my intention is to let the auction run its course. Full payment by wire transfer or cash must be made within 5 days of auction end and vehicle must be picked up within 21 days of auction end unless prior arrangements are made. Bidders with a feedback rating of less than 10 must contact me prior to bidding or I will cancel your bid.
