This COE has a real solid body. It only has two small spots of rust, and it is pretty straight. The weird paint makes it look bad, but the body is a great one to build. This will be a great truck for a pickup rod, car hauler, rollback, ramp truck, topkick 4x4, or? Many possibilities. These trucks look nice with stepside boxes from the era. Used boxes are available but reproduction box parts are available to build a new box to your desired dimensions. Box sides, fenders, tailgates, wood floors, etc. are all available to build a box. I think you could easily put a '55 grille in this truck. It looks like a direct bolt-in. I personally like the '55 grille better but you may prefer the '54. You could probably modify the existing grille to delete how the teeth drop down. Many pics of other restored coe trucks are included below, to show the potential of these trucks. Clear montana title. Thanks and happy bidding.
This Ford has had a small block chevy put in it at some point. It looks like an older 283/327. I was told it ran when parked but I have not tried to get it running. I'm sure it will take some wor, as it looks like someone was either working on it. It has a manual transmission. The truck rolls and steers. Brakes don't work. This has a large, heavy duty PTO winch behind the cab. I know many of you won't use it but It may have some value. It has dual exhaust with old-school stacks!
BODY
This truck needs restored but the body is solid and has very little rust. There are two small spots of rust: The passenger side door has minor rust in the bottom outer skin. You can see it easily in the pics. The only other rust is a small spot in the drivers side low cab corner. This is a common area for these cabs to get rust and patches are readily available. The passenger side cab corner has no rust. The fenders, hood, roof, floors, etc. are dry and solid. The body is actually straight also and has no large dents. Some pics show the truck before I replaced the headlight and ring. It is included. Windshield is broke. These are the same as a pickup and easy to find used or new. Some of the door glass is broke. It's all flat and easy to find used or get new also. The doors both open fine. I can't remember sure if they latch properly but they will be secured for transport. Hood opens fine.
INTERIOR
There is not much in the way of interior in these, but the seat looks original and needs recovered. Gauge area all looks good and original. I believe the visors are in it. Engine cover is in it and in good shape. The pics tell the story. Many more interior pics in the dropbox link. I don't believe the dash has been cut at all. Needs the headliner and floormat, as they are gone.
OVERALL
This is an excellent truck to start with for a restoration. As described before, the body is great for a project. Clear title, and the original VIN/DATA tag is in it, and matches the title. It has great patina. If you've seen a restored or rodded COE, you know how cool they are. Many people put them on newer chassis, but you could use this frame I'm sure if you wanted.
This old truck is sold as-is. Thanks and happy bidding
