1966 Ford Mustang Convertible original 289 V-8 Auto project 1965 rock solid rare
1966 Ford Mustang Description
Up for sale is a great project car. A 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible. Free and Clear title.76C- Convertible bench seatR- Ivy Green Metallic26- Black interiorC-Code 289 V-86- C-4 Automatic.
I have had this car for a number of years. The car already has much of the major work done. All most all the heavy welding and metal work is done. The fit and finish needs to be done. This is a rock solid car now. Here is all the new things:New torque boxes all around. All front and rear frame rails are new. New floor pans where needed and patched . New inner rockers. New floor pan support rails. New rear quarter panels and drops. All of the trunk area has been works and fixed where ever needed including inner and outer wheel wells. new front grill / radiator support. New left and right front aprons and battery box.Basically the whole basis and frame of the car is all set to go now. It was done professionally and correctly. There are other new parts still in bags that are too much to list. Depending on how you like the underside to look you may or may not want to grind down some more of the welds, but it looks great as it is. The right rear quarter panel needs a bit more work where it had a tool fall on it- I have a picture of it shown. The hood is new but has a couple of crinkles in it . The gas tank is brand new. The whole engine compartment has been gone over. The shock towers are great. There are 3 different places the original VIN numbers appear on the original correct parts of the fender aprons. All the chrome and glass is in place and in good condition ( the front windshield has a few chips)Other good points. The dash is in tack. There is a power Convertible top. ( I would have put the top all the way down, but it needs a power source to go all the way down, and it will.)
The original 289 motor turns over and moves by hand. I have mounted the engine and transmission in the car already for easier transportation. The car is a roller. It does not run at this time, so the winning bidder needs to plan accordingly when setting up transportation.
The car is about 75% done I would estimate. My plan was to finish it all, but the restoration has gone on so long that I have run out of interest and time. this will make a great finished car. The original color is Ivy green ass seen in the picture of the power top motor. Someone had painted it red at some point. The black is just primer to keep it sealed. Here are some of the things that need to be done:The engine needs to be gone over, The brakes, the convertible top, the whole interior, The right door front bottom rust, both front fender are OEM, but need lots of attention, All panel gap need to be done, the headlight bucket will work- but they are not great, It needs outer front bumper arms, the wheels are not original and need replacing, but the tires have always held air some I keep them, The front bench seat frame needs new bolt. ( I was going to put in bucket seats if I was going to finish the car, It has a incorrect rear seat bottom ( I will see if I have the right one, The plastic inner rear quarter panels with arm rests need replacing, and of course the final paint job. The new owner can paint it any color of course- so that is another reason for me to stop work on it now so that it can be painted any color.. There are other things to do, but I got the major things I was planning on getting to if I was to keep it.
I hopefully I have given the new owner a good clear understanding of the car. The pictures should fill in the rest. This is not a rust bucket. I have gone to great lengths to get rid of all rust as we went from the bottom up with this Mustang convertible. It is a very original car.If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. If you wish to see the car in person, please let me know before the end of the action. My intent was to keep this car, but that changed now so I am listing it for the first time. Please do not waste my time with questions unless you are a serious buyer. The winning bidder is the owner. I can sell it overseas, but please know that it cost more to transport a not running car, so know the transportation costs before you bid. I will try to hook up the transmission so that it can be put in park, there is not a torque converter in the transmission.I need a $500 deposit through paypal within 48 hours. and full payment within 7 days. I need the car picked up within 30 days or less.
I have other pictures if you need them before the end of the auction. All transportation costs or delivery costs are the buyer's reponsibility. I have excellent feedback on Ebay. I am easy and straight forward to deal with.Thank you for looking and bidding on My 1966 Ford Mustang convertible
