1951 Ford Custom Flathead V8 Shoebox
1951 Ford 2DR Sedan Description
1951 Ford Custom 2dr sedan with 121,888 miles on it.The car was originally Seafoam Green but someone had repainted it Hawaiin Bronze long before the car came into the family. The paint is faded and the chrome isn't the best, but all the glass is good and there is nothing missing from this car. The interior is all original and retains its factory green color. The dash, with all its knobs, switches, gauges and such, is in great condition and all work, but the seats have some bad places in them. The car definitely has patina which makes it fun to drive as is, or as it is, it would make a great car to do a complete restoration on.The original flathead V8, which had been rebuilt several years ago, starts and runs very well. The engine has tube headers and dual exhaust. The automatic transmission is smooth and shifts great. The entire electrical system works correctly and is still 6 volts with generator, and since it all works so well, we didn't feel a need to modify it.Everything works on the car including the lights, horns, windows, clock, heater and gauges, and even the original radio(AM only). The shocks and entire braking system has been replaced several years ago and works great but the steering has a little wonder to it. The body is in great shape and thereis no rust or holes in the floor boards or trunk, and the frame is very solid. The doors don't sag and close easily and have that solid sound when latching, and the tires still have plenty of tread left on them.
Accessories on the car include some hard to find items like the vintage sun visor over the windshield and a complete set of stainless steel window vents, back up lights, fuel door trim piece, door handle trim pieces, front fender rock guards, and a functional spot light. The car comes with 3 sets of skirts(tall, medium, on the car now, and short height) extra set of 4 rims with tires, a spare automatic transmission, literature on the car to include the owners manual, several boxes of miscellaneous items to include a new master cylinder that was bought after forgetting a new one was already bought. The car has a set of full hubcaps on it and included is a complete set of baby moons with beauty rings. My brother had owned this car before me since the mid 90's, and when I decided to sell my 47 Ford Coupe, he wanted it so we traded cars. My heart is in a 36 5W Coupe that I have owned for some time now but I need the funds from this 51 to finish it, so I think.
The car is sold as-is and does not include any kind of warranty. The buyer must pay a $500.00 down payment within 3 days of the auction ending. PayPal is my preferred method of payment. I will give the buyer 2 weeks from the end of the auction to have the car picked up from my garageonce the car is paid in full, at which time the buyer will assume all responsibility.
If you have any questions or would like additional pictures please let me know at the least 2 days before the end of the auction. Thank you for looking.
