1971 Ford Bronco Sport 302 - Uncut Survivor
This 1971 Ford Bronco is a strikingly original, first-generation example that has logged a reported 78,763 miles since new. Originally delivered to its first owner in California, this Calypso Coral over white example has spent most of its life on the West Coast and was recently restored to a driver standard in 2013. The chassis and drivetrain have been verified to be date code matching and all records indicate they are original to the vehicle. This truck has been serviced regularly by its current owner and is offered in a good mechanical standing and needs nothing to be enjoyed.
The exterior of the vehicle is good. Having received a recent restoration in 2013 that included a bare metal repaint to its original color of Calypso Coral with a Wimbledon White roof, the exterior paint is able to be brought to a deep and even shine. The engine bay and interior floors were similarly prepped and resprayed during the restoration. Cosmetic issues include paint cracking in the engine bay, on the hood and road chips on the passenger side door. The roof shows signs of minimal rust staining near attachment points. The passenger’s side B pillar wears a small area of rust bubbling. Overall, the exterior presents well and is representative of a recent restoration.
The interior of the vehicle is very good. The driver and passenger front seats and rear bench seat show no signs of cracking or excessive wear and were reupholstered during the restoration. The dash shows minimal wear for its age and all original gauges, including the radio, are present with the vehicle. The factory delivered key accompanies the vehicle as well. The interior flooring has been sprayed with a protective black coating.
Mechanically, the vehicle is in excellent condition. The matching date coded drivetrain has been verified to be correct and regularly maintained by the current owner. The 3-speed column mounted shifter engages smoothly. The 4-wheel drive transfer case is in good working order and is able to be adjusted from 2WD to 4WD with ease. The Ford 302 V8 power plant starts without hesitation and power delivery is strong.
Structurally, the vehicle is in excellent condition. The frame exhibits some surface rust and all body mounts and structural areas are solid and dry. Having lived on the West Coast and garage kept during its tenure on the East Coast, this original survivor is structurally sound .
Overall, this original, unmolested, first generation Ford Bronco is in good condition and would only need cosmetic touches to bring it to the next level. These highly collectible trucks are becoming increasingly rare and exceptionally difficult to find in original condition.
