1997 FORD EXPLORER XLT GREEN/GREY 4 DOOR 4X4 AUTO V6 SOHC NEEDS REPAIR
1997 Ford Explorer 4 DOOR Description
This car was my wife's daily driver until December 22nd when she came home and said it sounded like it had a hole in the muffler. I took a look at it and found it to be extremely low on oil and it sounds like the middle valve on the drivers side is making the noise. I have been using Valvoline synthetic blend so I believe it helped to minimize the damage. It does still run but I have just parked it and kept the battery on a trickle charger since then. It also I believe needs front brake rotors as the brakes are a little grabby, that was the project originally scheduled on the day after my wife's big announcement, along with an oil change, also the temperature gauge does not work and it has a small leak in the cooling system.
This is an XLT with Control Trac 4 wheel drive it does have power windows (fronts are a little slow), power locks, keyless entry with one key fob, cruise control, running boards, fog lights, am/fm cassette and it is wired for the in the console 6 disc CD player which I am including but it does not work.
The good news is:
It has a clean Florida Title.
The tires are Goodyear Wrangler Radials that were just replaced in June 2016 at 234460
The water pump and fan clutch were replaced in July 2016 at 235409
The battery an Autocraft Gold was replaced in January 2016 at 226483
The radio was replaced with an NOS OEM unit in November 2014 at 208857
The windshield was replaced by Safelite in November 2013 at 191615
I have a lot of maintenance records to go with it, including my little black book which has a lot more details of work done to the car. Unfortunately I let the one oil change get by me otherwise we would still be driving it. If you need me to store the car for a couple of weeks after the sale, so you can arrange transport that it is not a problem.
