Hi. Up for sale is my Ford wheelchair van. I bought this to make a handicapped camper, but after a lot of work on the van, I realized it wasn't meeting my needs, it just wasn't big enough, I bought something bigger. So I am selling it. This van is a little beat up but solid and reliable. I'm a private party and this ad discloses everything I can think of. Please check my good feedback. Thanks for looking!
Features
* Braun handicapped wheelchair lift
* Hightop fiberglass roof (six feet high inside)
* Extended length
* 4.6 liter V-8 (lower mileage motor, allegedly with 72,000 miles - replaced by previous owner; my mechanic confirmed the motor was replaced and it is a good solid motor)
* Automatic overdrive transmission
* Front and rear air conditioning (one system, expanded, with extra Freon, separate blower and vents in the back, front and rear have separate fan controls on the dash)
* Bus-style seating in the rear: two single fixed seats on the right, one double seat on the left. The double seat folds up against the wall. Includes several wheelchair tie-down ratcheting strap clamps and floor mounting fittings. Seats six, plus one wheelchair.
* Title is free and clear and in my name
* Vehicle is exempt from New Jersey state inspection under new guidelines where older vehicles are exempt.
* Lift works great
FYI, vehicle has manual windows, manual locks, and no cruise control.
This vehicle was just thoroughly gone over bymy first-rate mechanic. Over $5,000 of repairs were done, including:
NEW
* Radiator
* Coolant hoses
* Heater hoses
* Motorcraft (Ford) alternator (better)
* Serpentine belt tensioner
* Motorcraft (Ford) air conditioning compressor (better)
* Motorcraft (Ford) blower motor (ventilation fan, front) (better)
* Fuel injectors (2)
* Rebuilt gear selector mechanism on column
* Tie rod ends (both)
* Upper ball joint (right side)
Issues:
* My mechanic said there is a minor exhaust leak from the exhaust manifold. He is not sure if it is a bad gasket or just loose. He said it is not a concern for now, just keep an eye on it.
* The side door hinges are tweaked a little bit, therefore to open the front passenger door, you have to open the forward side door first. This could be remedied by a little persuasion
* There is a little bondo just forward of the driver's door
* Two tires are just OK, two are better. The picture is of one of the worse tires.
* Front driver's seat has a rip on the seat and the arm rest is broken
* Lift remote control wire and switch have been replaced with generic wire and switch (but works fine)
* This van has higher mileage and does have a good amount of minor dents, dings, and scratches
The undercarriage is solid. Not much rust, just a little surface rust here and there. Color is Toreador Red, it's a nice burgundy or deep purple color. The high top, extended length, and wheelchair lift add a lot of value. Wheelchair lifts alone cost $6,000 to $7,000 dollars new. It can be used like a tommy lift or lift gate. This van would be great for anyone who needs to transport a wheelchair user, or for anyone who moves heavy objects, tradesman, delivery, plumber, musician, etc. Overall the van is a good, solid, reliable, vehicle. With all the engine work done, you have a lot less worries. Thanks for looking!
