1929 Ford Model A Roadster Description

1929 Model A Ford Hot Rod. Original Steel roadster body on an original 1932 ford frame. This car was finished in 1990 and was a very traditional build. This car has a lot of the correct parts it takes to build a postwar style flathead powered car today without hunting down all the parts for 2 years.
Engine is a 49-53 Flathead and we were told by the previous owner it was a Mercury engine. Has the Mercury aluminum timing cover and Mercury stamped steel bellhousing but I have not confirmed the crankshaft and displacement. Original curve script Edelbrock heads Ford 8.5/Mercury 9 to 1 compression. Original Edelbrock part #452 4 barrel intake with adapter for late squarebore carb. Edelbrock 1406 carburetor. Old Mallory Dual point distributor, custom made headers. Walker 28-29 radiator with repro 32' shell and insert.Transmission is a ford Toploader 3 speed of the late 30's vintage. Has double detent cover, Mercury stamped bell, 32 trans mount.
Chassis is an original 32' frame. K member is unaltered with all original rivets in place. Frame was boxed in front of k legs to the front spreader bar. Nice original 32' pedals converted to juice brakes. Original unsplit 32' wishbone, 33-36 old moor drop axle, 37-41 round back spindles, 40' backing plates, 46-48 drums, 33-34 steering box. The back of the frame was boxed from the kick up back. Model A rear crossmember and spring, 46-48 banjo, shortened torque tube, 46-48 radius rods. Story is that the car had a halibrand v8 quick change in it years ago. Chassis work is really well done and looks to be a professional job. Wheels are original 16x4.5 fronts with ribbed Firestone 5.00-16s and rears are repro 16 x 6 with Firestone 8.90-16 dirt trackers.
The body is an original henry 28-29 model A roadster body. Doors open and close nice. Original hinges and latches. Has no dovetails installed. Looks to have original subrails, repro cross braces and flat sheet metal floors. Rear subrails kicked up for 32' frame and again looked to be a high quality job for the era. Original gas tank was being used but started leading so now it's relocated to the trunk area with a fill cap in rear panel behind seat. Car has a louvered rumble lid, and tail light panel with 39' tail lights. Interior looks to have been a very high quality job in grey vinyl. Gauges are Stewart Warner wings series and all of them work except speedometer. The speedo has no cable installed. The car has a rumble seat that matches the interior but installing the gas tank in the front area makes it difficult to be used. Paint is older and showing its age with typical scratches and chips of a build this old. Body work and finish looked to have been nice quaility and could be enjoyed as is or redone.
The car runs and drives good and could be enjoyed as is or redone with some changes to be a really nice postwar flathead powered hot rod. Please feel free to contact with any questions. Jim 865-805-9381
