1997 Ford F250 XLT Heavy Duty Crew Cab Power Stroke Turbo Diesel, less than 165,000 miles. This last year of the Old Body Style truck has 225 hp and 480 lb-ft torque. Interior is in very good condition with less than typical wear on the driver's seat but with some cigarette burns; exterior is good with typical dings (see photos), mediocre-repaired dent in RR quarter panel from a blown tire (pers. com. from previous owner) andsmaller gate-post scrape on LR quarter panel;also a wiper blade mar on the passenger side of the windshield (was going to remove but can't find my glass polish). Power windows, power door lock, AC, cruise control, rear sliding window and Limited Slip rear differential function perfectly. Transmission was replaced approximately 45K miles ago (pers. com. from previous owner), tires are almost new Cooper Discoverer AT3s. As I (a former certified diesel mechanic) intended to keep this vehicle, I spent over $2,000 in maintenance and upgrade parts as I have detailed below (the only drivability problem the truck had was a leaking fuel pump).
Regular Maintenance (between 162,850 miles and 163,500 miles):
- Change engine oil and filter (162,850 miles) - Chevron Delo 15-40.
- Flush and changecoolant, clean radiator, AC condenser and trans cooler fins.
- Change transmission/torque converter, transfer case and power steering fluid with Valvoline Max Life Full Synthetic.
- Change front and rear diffs with Delo Syn-Gear XDM 75w-90 and LS additive.
- Front brakes: replace spindle dust seals and wheel bearing grease seals, re-pack wheel bearings with Ford Moly-grease (rotors and new pads already done).
- Rear brakes: turn drums, new NAPA shoes, replace axle grease seals.
- Lube rear drive shaft slip joint with Ford Moly-grease.
- Replace glow plugs.
- Replace thermostat with 203 deg part
.
Extended Maintenance/Upgrades:
-:Drivetrain
Rear Driveshaft: replace U-joints and carrier bearing with NAPA Premium parts.
Replace rubber body mounts (6) with Prothane urethane bushings.
Replace front axle TTB rubber bushings with Prothane urethane bushings.
Replace front leaf spring and shackle rubber bushings with Prothane urethane bushings.
-:Exhaust/Fuel Injection/Intake
Rebuild Fuel Bowl/Drain Valve - Viton O-rings, new tank-return hose and clamps.
Rebuild Injection Pressure Regulator - Viton O-rings.
Replace fuel pump and inlet/outlet hoses/clamps.
Turbo Pedestal/Compressor Outlet - new O-rings, delete warm-up valve (goes with truck).
Replace factory Turbo down pipe with heat-wrapped Diamond Eye 3-inch, 2-piece down pipe.
Replace stock air filter box with Riffraff 6637 "Big Honking Air Filter" and filter sleeve.
Replace glow plug relay with Western Snowplow Relay.
Note: the shocks are still the original OEM units and work OK and the batteries are aging - I'm leaving upgrade choices to the buyer.
This truck runs, rides and drives great, makes very little smoke and still has a functioning catalytic converter so emissions are intact. I have an Auto Check report in a PDF file that, if I cannot load here,I can email on request. I have more photos and will take any additional photos and email to requestor. Truck islisted locally, sale will result in Ebay listing cancellation.
