1965 Ford Galaxie Base Description

This Auction is for one 1965 Ford Galaxie 500. It's my friend's car; for all questions please contact Charlie at (207) 975-1880; I will answer via EBAY what I can, but Charlie has the answers. The car is located in Jennings Louisiana about midway between Houston and New Orleans just off Interstate 10.

I've done a few restorations, so here's what I found; the trunk pan has some rusting but can be salvaged, most of the penetration is on the left side. Both quarter panels around the rear well areas have some rusting around the wheel flares, but two patch panels in that area could suffice. The rear wheel kick up area looks to have some paint blister, not sure if any other previous repair, but it's not all plaster or bondo, could be saved; my best solution, replace both rear quarter panels and it's done.

The front fenders are solid, couple holes in the inner front splash area, can be fixed. Underneath both sides light rust, no holes, looks pretty solid. Rear floor pans are bad, must replace; front floor pans will patch easy, still solid. Overall the body and frame are in decent shape, making a good solid project.

Looks to have had one repaint, Codes are; Body 76A, Color H, Date 07G, DSO 55, Axle 1, Trans 4.

The interior and dash area look original, but is starting to dry out, won't last long as-is, but as a Daily Driver you could get by for a short time. The Dash area looks all original and rest of the interior.

The top needs replacement, the top frame is all there and solid; the hydraulic top motors work but may need attention; the hoses do leak and will not roll the top up.

The chrome, bumpers could all be buffed if it were a daily driver, they're all in good shape; showing the vehicle may require some re-chroming. All the glass looks good, but a couple window cranks are soft.

The engine is a FE 352 Ford V8 with automatic transmission, sounds great.

The car was on the road in 1999 by the last inspection in Missouri and the 34,000 miles on the dash are believed to be the true miles. The Drive train is all original to the car (matching numbers?) and it puts out almost 60 psi running. The car has been parked nearly 12 years, so it's not driving you home, but it will roll and start up for inspection. It has no knocking, smoking or anyweird noise; it just needs a complete restoration or someone with the skills to get it back on the road.

It will make an excellent restore to original condition or modify as it suits you typevehicle.
