1997 Ford F-250 Heavy Duty 7.3L Powerstroke Diesel Super Cab w/ Only 142K miles!
1997 Ford F-250 XLT HD Description
This is a sweet truck, but unfortunately it's time to sell it. I don't absolutely have to, but I will for the right price. I actually just bought it towards the end of May of this year. I had a '99 Super Duty Super Crew before this and I've decided it would be easier to go back to the four full doors. All along I'd planned on getting another Super Crew, but I found this truck and fell in love with it and thought I could make it work. We recently had a baby and it's just too much work getting the car seat in and out of the back with only the two doors. I also occasionally need to carry stuff in the cab, rather than the bed, and could use the extra space a Super Crew provides. These are literally the only reasons I'm even considering selling it. It's a beautiful truck and I've already received several compliments in the short time I've owned it.
It runs absolutely great and there are no real issues to speak of. It does have a couple of small cracks in the windshield, so depending on how picky you are, you may want to replace it. It also needs a new brake booster, which is a $200 part. Les Schwab Tires looked at it the other day and this is what they determined it needs. It brakes OK now, but not quite like it should. The passenger side helper air bag has a very slow leak in it or somewhere along the line (approx 10 lbs. in about 2 weeks). The front driveline has been removed because the previous owner re-geared the back but never got around to doing the front. He took out the drive line so that it never accidentally got put into four wheel drive. It does however come with the driveline and all the parts you need to change the front to 4:10's as well. He got an estimate of about $600 for the labor to do the work. If you can do it yourself, even better. Finally, the parking brake light comes on periodically. Other than that, this truck is in GREAT mechanical condition. There are no other issues to speak of.
Cosmetically this truck is in very, very good condition. It's not perfect, but it's close. You would be hard pressed to find an F-250 of this generation in better condition. The tailgate is the most flawed part of the truck, and it's really not that bad. There is no damage on the truck anywhere else that comes even close. Please see the picture of the close-up of the tailgate. The truck has been used as a truck, so the bed, of course, is dinged up pretty good but there are no holes or gauges. The bed looks like you'd expect a truck bed that was used to look. A rubber mat is included. Beyond that, there are a very few small "dings" here and there, but certainly nothing major. No major dents or rust. Pretty much the only rust on the truck is on one of the dings in the tailgate. Any tiny spot you may see anywhere else is just surface rust. There are some rock chips in the rocker panels and on the front of the hood (I just installed a brand new bug guard and it pretty much hides those) and in a few various places, but again, nothing out of the ordinary. This is all to say it is a truck from 1997, so it's not flawless, but it is pretty close. Please look over the pictures carefully and zoom in to fully inspect the condition. I can all but guarantee this is one of the nicest F-250's of this generation (or any for that matter) out there!
The guy I bought it from didn't plan on selling it either. He owned it for about a year and a half and something came up where he needed the money for a different project. He put a lot of money into this upgrading and replacing parts. When I went to look at it before I bought it, he popped the hood and I looked at it and said "Wow"! He told me there were several parts under the hood that he replaced that worked fine but he just wanted them to look better so he replaced them with new parts. He wanted people who looked under the hood to say exactly what I said, "Wow"!
Parts recently replaced/upgraded include; Almost new BFG KO2 tires (35x12.50), Baby Swamps injectors, valve cover gaskets & harnesses, glow plugs, glow plug relay, turbo pedestal O-rings, turbo up pipe gaskets, Ford Motorcraft batteries, serpentine belt, idler & tens bearings, coolant reservoir, coolant flush with Ford coolant & additive, HPOP O-rings, HPOP crossover hose, fuel pump and lines, both power steering lines, power steering reservoir, upper & lower ball joints, inner & outer tie rod, drag link & inner joint, front rotors, front pads, front calipers and front brake lines. I'm not a mechanic. All of these came off a list he gave me when I bought the truck so that I knew what all had been done to it. I do know how to do a few things, including change the oil, which I just did on 06/30. He always used a Ford Motorcraft filter and Shell Rotella T6 synthetic 5w-40 motor oil, so I did too. The truck also has had a turbo rebuild, WW2 boost wheel, 3.5" Diamond Eye down pipe, 4" full Diamond Eye exhaust w/ 6" Stainless Tip, Edge CTS tuner w/ EGT probe, TS six position tuner w/ Swamps tunes, custom intake w/ Amoil filter, custom oil breather setup, Riffraff upgraded intake tube, 6K HID's, Firestone helper bags, 4" Skyjacker front and rear leaf springs, Pro Comp traction bars, Red Head steering gearbox, Skyjacker track bar drop bracket, all four Skyjacker shocks, 4" Skyjacker drop pitman arm, Warn hubs (extra sets included too), Dana 60, extended rear brake lines, fully sound deadened floor in the cab, Tekonsha electric brake controller, camper tie-downs and electrical connection, front window tint, Pro Tech locking toolbox and headache rack, Alpine V3 front and rear speakers, Pioneer CD player, small JL Audio sub in the back with an amp and bass control knob at the driver's seatbelt buckle. Brand new in the box aluminum Bully side steps are also included. I was planning on replacing the N-Fab nerf bars that are currently on it in favor of something with a little more purchase, but I just never got around to it. The truck looks like it has almost always had seat covers on the front two seats (the upholstery is in GREAT condition). I removed them for the pictures and have since put them back on.
As you can see, this truck has a ton of great parts (and money) in it. It's definitely not overdone and obnoxious like a lot of trucks with ridiculous lifts, tires etc. It's got a great stance and looks awesome but can still actually be used as a truck! The owner before him was an AMSOil franchise owner and used only the best of the best fluids and filters etc. He even went as far as to send off the oil to have it tested! It was determined that for this rig, 7k miles was the ideal oil change interval. This truck has never been abused or smoked in. The previous owners, and myself, just wanted a great looking, riding and driving truck.
I'm asking $23,950 for the truck, but I'm open to reasonable offers. Clear title in hand. Buyer is in charge of setting up and paying for shipping. I'd be happy to help facilitate shipping on my end by being available for a shipper to pick it up. Or, come pick it up and drive it home yourself! The Seattle area is beautiful this time of year! Any interested party is more than welcome to come take a look. Feel free to message me with questions and I'll do my best to answer them.
