'67 Ford Ranchero XL (Not El Camino)
1967 Ford Ranchero Description
I bought this car from the second owner about 25 years ago. The transmission was totally rebuilt about 300 miles ago. The original GT heads were rebuilt and put on a "fresh 390". I found out about 200 miles ago, when it was being bored out and rebuilt, that it was actually a 428. The cam is a competition upgrade, but not wild. Also installed new aluminum radiator, new upgrade fan, new belts and hoses, virtually everything in the engine compartment is new. Body, paint was completed in 1994, so it could use a refresh, but the interior, completed at the same time is still new. This XL was originally a 390 with A/C and front disc brakes. A/C is not working. Parts included: I have an original working AM radio, black leather snap on bed cover, new kick plates for interior, new arm rests, new seat belts.
Needs: Tires still have new tread, but are old and not trustworthy. There is a short in the steering column. Brake lines and/or transmission fluid lines need replacing. Battery needs charging. Bumpers are fine, but could use a re-chrome. As mentioned, paint could use a refresh - a couple of rust bubbles under the paint on the roof. Floor boards and wheel wells were taken care of in 1994. I have not seen any other problems.
So, why am I selling it? I borrowed against it to pay some taxes and fly my step son and his family out for the holidays from Fort Bragg; thinking I would have money from another source to pay it off in a few months. Actually, it hurts like hell, but the delight on my wife's face was worth it.
