2001 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE Description

This GMC truck has been in my family for 16 years. My dad bought this truck brand spanking new in May 2001 from Freedom Buick/GMC in Odessa, Texas (dry & arid region of Texas). He drove this pickup for over 10 years and put 100,000 miles on it. After his stroke at the end of 2011, I bought the truck and during the past 6 1/2 years, my son & I have put another 96,000 miles on this Sierra. As you can see, this truck has the typical GM white paint flaking off syndrome, so the exterior is not a pretty sight. However, the engine/transmission is strong (I pulled a trailer full of furniture from Waxahachie to Abilene and back a few weeks ago and the truck did great!). The interior has never been smoked in or flooded, and the cloth interior looks great! There are very few signs of wear. The passenger side window doesn't roll down (cable system broke), but everything else works well. My son added a new JVC car stereo that has an AUX jack to play iPod/iPhone/Android music. I just had the truck inspected and registered in Ellis County (through 5/2018). Plus, I just put on 4 brand new Cooper tires (255/70 R16) from Discount Tire in Arlington. This truck has never been involved in any accident other than my son tagging a tree with both the front and rear bumpers while camping. Asking $3,000. Thanks for looking.
Just to reiterate, this truck has spent it's entire life in inland Texas, so there is zero undercarriage rust. In fact, you can still see many of the factory labels that were applied during the building process (manufactured in Canada).
One more thing, when you fill up the gas tank, the gas gauge will show full then drop to empty then back to full 4 - 5 times until the tank comes down to 3/4 on down. Its annoying, but I just haven't spent the time to solve the problem. Truck runs great regardless of this quirk.
