1995 Honda Civic Description

Serious bidders only! For sale is a very unique and special 5th generation Milano Red Honda Civic EX coupe with 5 speed manual. I am selling this car because I no longer live in the USA and unfortunately have nowhere to store the car. I have invested many thousands of dollars and an unimaginable amount of time in this car over the past 15 years that I have owned it and my objective was always an OEM, factory look, using OEM Honda and Acura ITR parts. It has relatively high mileage (230,000) but runs great. I have service and parts records for everything I have done to this car, minus the receipts for oil and oil filters, which I changed religiously every 3,000 miles. Almost every plastic interior panel has been replaced with OEM Honda panels from Majestic Honda in Rhode Island, including the entire dashboard (even new OEM bulbs in the instrumentation cluster). I installed very expensive, flush-mount Cobra parking sensors in both the front and rear bumper covers, plus a rear back-up camera and OEM-style rearview mirror with video screen for the camera. I actually installed a front camera, too, which is stealthily mounted in the front license plate (see pic) that also feeds into the rearview mirror with a button mounted in the armrest. The front seats are from an Acura Integra and the entire interior has been reupholstered with custom leather and suede with the Honda logo embroidered in red. The rear seats even have seat heaters! In 2011 I installed a Recaro Sport Topline driver seat with the Power Climate package that cost almost $2,500. I will also include the reupholstered Integra driver seat in this auction. I installed inflatable lumbar bladder supports on the front two Acura seats. Very comfortable. This Civic has the rear disc brake conversion and Acura ITR sway bars front and rear, plus rims from a 2000 Civic Si.

I bought this car in 2000 in Houston, Texas from a woman who had purchased it in Virginia Beach. She was the original owner and the car had around 50,000 miles at that time. Since then the car has been in Northern Virginia and Richmond, Virginia. It was garaged for more than half of that time. I used to bike to work and left the car in the underground garage at my office. It pains me to sell this car, so if I don’t get the price I want, I will keep it and figure out a way to store it. The car has tremendous sentimental value to me and it really is an incredible and unique car. I have poured my soul into this little guy. Right now it is at my parents’ house in Northern Virginia. I will be in Northern Virginia the first week of June and can sign over the title if there is a winning bidder.

The drivetrain is the original D16Z6 engine and transmission, although the clutch was replaced at around 210,000 miles. I installed thousands of dollars of Dynaliner acoustic foam on both the sheet metal behind the plastic interior panels, as well as on the backside of each panel (including the dashboard). The car is extremely quiet and there are no rattles or noises at all. While I had the dashboard off (to replace the firewall insulator pad, heater core, AC evaporator core, and install a Hepa cabin filter from a Honda CRV), I redid the seam sealer so there will be no water leaks around the firewall and bulkhead (common problem in old Civics).

The only problems the car has are the cruise control, a little rust, and a small problem with the alarm. I tried installing a new cruise control switch on the steering wheel but that didn’t fix the problem. I suspect you just need to replace the modulator box (get price from Majestic Honda or find one at a junk yard). Also, the door locks do not lock automatically when the engine turns on. This feature of the alarm slowly died a few years ago, so you would need to replace the alarm box “brain” under the driver seat. But everything else on the alarm works and I have a spare remote (although I can’t get it to work). The rear left quarter panel at the wheel well is starting to develop rust at the pinch welds, which is typical for older Hondas. The same thing started to happen on the right side and I had it repaired by a restoration shop in 2011.

The car has an accident report because it was lightly rear ended in 2009 when I was stopped at a red light. The impact was minor and just damaged the trunk lid and bumper cover. I had the trunk lid and rear bumper cover replaced (with OEM Honda parts) and repainted. I am including a picture of the accident scene so you can see the damage.

The car has been repainted in various stages over the years except for the two front fenders and two doors. I was going to replace the front fenders because they have some dings, but did not get around to it. Also, the passenger door has a crease dent in it that cannot be fixed and that is only visible when direct sunlight hits it. I replaced the hood around 2006 with an OEM Honda hood because it was dinged up. It has since gotten a few more dings from acorns falling on it at my parents’ house, but the paint is perfect.

Below are the modifications and recent repairs/maintenance done (that I can remember). There are probably many modifications I am omitting. The dates may be wrong, but I have receipts for everything listed below, so you can verify the exact date and modification by looking at the receipts. I don’t have access to those receipts right now, so I did the best I can to remember and estimate the dates. The winning bidder will be responsible for picking up the car from Northern Virginia. I will not ship or deliver this car. Buyer must come pick it up. I will only accept cash, cashier's check, or money order.

·Rims from a 2000 Honda Civic Si

·New OEM lug nuts for 2000 Honda Civic Si rims installed in 2015

·I rebuilt the sunroof with OEM Honda parts around 2008 because a little plastic piece had broken and it was not closing properly. It works like new now.

·Undersides of rear fender wells were treated with rubberized spray treatment around 2009 for a quieter interior

·Front black windshield cowl plastic panel replaced around 2009

·New OEM Honda roof molding strips around 2010

·OEM Hood bra and I may I still have the entire mask that fits around the front bumper cover. I never used it and may have thrown it away. It is tedious to install.

·New OEM Honda front wheel well fender liners installed (can’t remember date)

Stereo System

·Sony HD radio (unit sits under passenger seat)

·Sony head unit with USB input

·Infinity Component speakers in the front doors and in the rear speaker shelf. I custom installed the rear tweeters in the rear panels (see pic).

Interior

·Dynaliner acoustic foam installed on both the sheet metal behind the plastic panel as well as on the backside of the plastic panel. There is acoustic foam on every inch of this car. It is lightweight and makes the car really quiet. There is also Dynamat installed on the floor of the car.

·OEM front firewall insulator mat replaced around 2009 (these are discontinued and it was very hard to find)

·New AC evaporator core box from an Acura Integra and Hepa air filter insert from a Honda CRV. Yes, this car has an OEM Honda cabin air filter!

·New AC evaporator core and heater core around 2009

·Seat heaters in both rear seats! The on/off buttons are located on the back of the center armrest (see pic).

·Front passenger seat has a seat heater that is not working, and also has an inflatable lumbar bladder. I tried rewiring the seat heater, but it has apparently failed and needs to be replaced.

·Leather Recaro Sport Topline passenger seat with Power Climate Package (ventilator fan, heater, power reclining, lumbar bladders, etc.). This seat alone costs almost $2,500. If you have back problems, this seat works better than a chiropractor!

·LED lights in front footwells, in the glovebox, in the overhead map light, and under rear seat bench. The car is very well illuminated.

·JDM Honda arm rest, leather upholstered

·JDM Honda center dash console

·USDM Acura Integra map light!

·Driver door panel replaced in 2005

·Front door panel inserts custom upholstered in black vinyl

·Rear panel arm rest inserts in back seat custom reupholstered in black vinyl

·Leather shift knob (ordered new and was actually an OEM Dodge part)

·OEM Honda leather steering wheel cover

·Front left “A” pillar trim piece replaced with OEM part sometime around 2005

·New driver side OEM Honda seat belt replaced sometime around 2005

·Front lower tie bar from Acura Integra Type R (new when installed)

·Aftermarket tower brace bar in engine bay

·Adjustable upper control arms on front and back (I forgot the brand)

·Recently replaced rear wheel bearings (OEM Honda parts)

·New front lower control arms around 2006 (OEM Honda parts)

·H&R OE Sport springs (lowers the car ¾ inch, the most conservative drop available)

Engine

·Radiator new in 2013

·Steering rack replaced around 2010

Alarm

·Tilt sensor mounted under armrest

·Glass shatter sensor mounted in center console (see pic)

·Hood cable is tucked so that hood cannot be opened through the wheel well

·Alarm activation switch in hood and trunk lid
