1999 Jaguar XK8 Description
Up for sale is my 1999 Jaguar XK8 convertible with only 48,200 miles! You read that right, only 48,200 miles!!!
I've owned this car for about 4 years and have been slowly getting to where it is now. The car runs and drives great! It needs a bit of cosmetic work to make it PERFECT! UnfortunatelyI lost one of my indoor garage spots so I'll need to pass this car onto a new owner. :-(
I recently had the car in for service. The following items are some of the major things I had professionally addressed:
- Replaced throttle body with refurbished one
- All new coolant lines throughout along with coolant flush
- New transmission park sensor replaced
- New wire loom for rear tail lights
DRIVE TRAINThe car runs and drives straight. It has POWER! 295 hp to be exact and it's a blast to drive with tons of torque off the line. The transmission is silky smooth without shift shock or any abnormal noises. No crunching, squealing, or slipping. The stock exhaust is great without any leaks. The rear does not make any noises nor does it drip. The car always starts and doesn't stumble, stall, or smoke when at idle or when revving. It sounds great! The engine doesn't overheat, smoke, or smell funny when cold or fully warmed up.
BODYThe tires are only 4 years old and have less than 5,000 miles on them. The hydraulic pump for the convertible top was replaced right before I purchased the car so that has plenty of life left in it. I'm told that the hydraulics were all flushed and changed at the same time. The glass all around is great! No nicks, chips, or scratches. The convertible soft top has no tears, rips, or abnormalities. It can use a gooddetailingthough.
The doors, trunk, and hood all open and shut as they should. No abnormal creaks or rattles. All locks work as they should as well. The fuel door is open and will not snap shut.
As you can see in the pictures, the clear coat is peeling and needs to be professionally dealt with. The car has little dings, scratches, and body issues that need to be addressed. No cancer or rot in the body though! This isn't a "bondo bucket" or a car that has been in any major accidents. All factory emblems are still in place.
It just came to my attention that the parking brake cable snapped so at the moment the parking break lever does nothing when you pull it up.
ELECTRICALThe only light that is currently illuminated is the ABS / Traction Control failure light. I believe it is the abs pump that is causing this but I'm not a mechanic. It was on my list of things to address but I never got around to it. The car stops on a dime so the brakes never gave me any reason for concern. The Harmon Kardon radio works when it wants to. Both power windows work perfect but the passenger side power window switch on thedriver sidedoor works when it wants to. Thedriver sideswitch on thedriver sidedoor works 100% of the time along with the passenger side switch on thepassenger sidedoor. The power door locks work perfect. The switch for the power door mirrors works when it wants to as well. I never looked into this as I'm the only driver for this car. So once I set the mirrors I never really adjust them again. Electrics for the seats all work as they should. The battery is only 2 years old.
INTERIORWhen I purchased the car I replaced the wood trim on the dash as some of it was chipped and faded. I replaced everything with all OEM Jaguar parts. The console door was also replaced with a later model XK8 lid without the annoying cup holder option that is prone to failure. The gear shifter knob is custom made with over 10 coats of clear lacquer covering a Jaguar "Growler" emblem. The trim ring around the J gate is all new along with the sport mode buttons. The passenger side leather seat is in OK condition. The driver side seat has wear as you can see in the pictures. The floor mats are brand new and are original Jaguar OEM mats. SUPER hard to find and expensive!!!
Overall the car is a great running car with an originaldrive trainthat has covered only 48,200 miles. With a little amount of effort and attention to detail you can make this a great daily driver or summer fun car. Keep in mind that this was once a $70,000 car! Here is your chance to own a real high end luxury sports car with a design that aged VERY well!
I also urge you to watch my video on this car as I go over all of the things I mentioned on this auction page.
