2005 Jaguar S-Type Description

Beautiful 2005 Jaguar S-Type with only 70,800 original miles by private seller. No rust, no issues displayed on inboard computer, no check engine light, Current PA emissions/mechanical inspection sticker. Runs great, was my daily driver for past 9 months. It never failed to start, even at -15 degrees this past February. I recently purchased newer car for my commute, no longer need the Jag for daily driving and do not have garage or I would keep it.
The good: body has no rust to my knowledge and no accidents recorded, tires are all good, car is very clean over all. All struts (trunk, hood) are functioning, interior is in good shape. Engine starts every time and is very peppy. It will get up and go when you want it to. Has very nice (and loud) 10-speaker AM/FM CD system. Has a CD changer in the truck, I have never used it so I don't know if it works. All the usual little knobs, switches and gadgets work. We put a new $200 battery in it last January. This is a very beautiful car that gets a lot of looks and makes a nice Jag growl, and since it is a 2005, it's from the first year of the late-series trim style which has a much better reliability record than the earlier S-Types.
The wanting: The sunroof is off track, the motor and everything works and it doesn't leak, but the sunroof will only open a couple inches. AC is not cold, it needs a new line. Motor, fan, etc. are fine, but will need a new line and a charge to be cold. Battery light is on. I've driven it for a month this way with no problems. The shop says the alternator is getting weak, but the car is running and starting with no issues - Jag battery lights are notorious for being unnecessarily sensitive to voltage or the light pops on - but the alternator will at some point need to be replaced. Some finish issues on the front and rear plastic bumper covers as is common on these vehicles at this age, not terrible, but there. The headliner is starting to fall in the rear (not hanging, but loose), will need to be re-glued to keep from eventually falling further. There are some scratches on the trunk lid and a few small ones here and there as one might expect for a 2005. All of these repairs I could do myself as an average-skill backyard mechanic, but have neither the time nor space, so I leave it to another Jag enthusiast to take over.
