1990 Jaguar XK XK 120 Replica Description

Here is a 1990 Jaguar XK 120 Roadster Replica, built by Vintage AutoWorks in Ligonier, Pennsylvania. I purchased this car from the original owner (I have a copy of the original New York title) about 8 years ago. It has always been garaged, and treated with a great deal of care.

It is powered by a Buick V6, with an Edelbrock intake, and a Holley 4 barrel carb. Mated to the engine, is a 4 speed MANUAL transmission. I don't know the make of the differential, although I have been told it is a Ford. The exhaust has straight pipes, leading to Two catalytic converters. The wiring harness in the car looks to be GM, and there is a fuse box which powers all the electrics. On the dash is a full compliment of VDO gauges, and all of them work. Additionally, there is a heater/defroster with a three speed fan, and you can manually adjust the heater ducts for the passenger, driver, or both. There is also a pull type heater control for the level of heat you desire. Under the dash, is an AM/FM cassette player, with 4 speakers in the kick panels. There is also a hidden switch to kill the ignition which will help prevent theft.

The doors open with the aid of electric latches. There is a button on the center of the door on the inside, and there is an outside button, under the rocker panels that you can hit with your toe which also opens the doors.

Included in the sale is a top, with an aluminum frame, and clear plexi-glass type windows that can be attached to the inside of each door. With thewindows up, and the top affixed, you would have an enclosed cockpit, although in keeping with Jaguar's reputation, not weather proof.

This Jaguar Replica hasNON-powered disc brakes in front, and drum brakes in the rear. It does have a dual master cylinder. I have been told that the brakes are Ford. The front end suspension is upper andlower control arms with shock absorbers at all 4 corners. The rear end is a live rear axle.

In the trunk you will find a space saver spare tire, with a jack and lug wrench. On top of the trunk is a luggage rack. Both the trunk and the hood have prop rods to keep them up for easy work and packing.

It should be noted, that just like a real XK 120, the top cannot be stowed in the car. It is either affixed to the car, or left at home. You should also be aware that this car has NO power steering, and NO power brakes and has a heavy clutch pedal. The clutch is actuated by a cable directly routed from the clutch pedal, to the clutch itself. I mention all of this so that you understand that this is not a cushy Cadillac, but a sports car with tons of road feel. It is invigorating to drive!!

The chassis rides on Coker Classic wide white wall bias belted tires that were installed in 2013. The chassis itself is a box frame, and the body of the car is Fiberglass. The original title lists the weight as 2,500 pounds.

When I bought this car, I registered it in New York State, where the VIN # 1V9XE61G7LL045003 was registered in their data base. When I moved to Connecticut, the vin was not recognized, so I had the state inspect the vehicle, and issue a new vin. However, the original VIN is still on display on the left of the dash, and the Connecticut vin is located on the left frame rail. BE SURE to check with your own state regarding titling a Kit car/ replica to determine what is required. This car was professionally built as stated previously, and given a 17 character vin but Vintage AutoWorks is no longer in business. I have been told that Antiques and Collectibles in Buffalo New York bought them out, but I have never contacted them for any information.

This car has always been garaged, and only driven during late spring, summer and fall. It is a lot of fun to drive and gets thumbs up from everyone. If you are looking to be incognito, do not buy this car.

PLEASE, bid on this vehicle as if you are buying it. Out of country bidders will need to contact me first, and any bidders with less than 10 positive responses, will also need to contact me first.
