1937 Jaguar Other Convertible Description

This Jaguar SS 100 is an engineered specialty car designed and produced by Antique & Classic Autos, Inc. of New York. The car was built by an engineer as a hobby car here is South Florida in 1982. It is built on a rectangular boxed frame with Ford 2.3 liter running gear. This running gear includes a Ford C4 3 speed transmission, Ford Mustang/Pinto Rear Differential, and Ford Mustang/Pinto Front Independent Suspension with Disk Brakes. This IS NOT a VW based kit car. This gentleman built the car in 1982 and drove it only 4000 miles before his wife became sick. Unfortunately, this situation required most of his attention, leaving the car sitting in the garage for over 30 years before being awakened.
I purchased this car from that gentleman in April of 2014. Having sat for so long, much needed to be done to bring it to running condition. The rear brakes were locked up, so complete new brake cylinders, shoes, and hardware were installed. Same with front disks, having complete new calipers and rotors installed. The master cylinder was also replaced, as was the proportioning valve. Essentially, an entirely new brake system.
Investigating the motor found that the freeze plugs had rusted out in some locations, so motor was pulled for a thorough going through. Cylinder pressures on this motor were uneven and the thermostat mounting location on the cylinder head was found to be extensively pitted. At this point, the decision was made to install a newly rebuilt replacement motor (with warranty) instead of rehabbing the existing motor. The car now runs well and is a blast to drive.
