1976 Jeep CJ7 **NEEDS NOTHING** RUST FREE DESERT CLASSIC
1976 Jeep CJ Base Description
This Jeep is in EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION. Great for someone looking for a FINISHED jeep.
This Jeep has been driven regularlysince work was completed (all within last 2 years), and I would not hesitate to drive her clear across the United States.
Besides a few minor upgrades (suspension lift, manual choke, half doors and top) this Jeep is all stock. This Jeep cruises comfortably down the highway at 65 mph.
BODYORIGINAL RUST FREE (NOT RESTORED) BODY. The body is straight with only a few small dents on the rockers from before i owned the Jeep. Tailgate does not line up perfectly, but looks good and closes fine. I installed half doors from a Jeep Wrangler as well as a removable fiberglass half-cab built by GR8 Tops. The only rust, ever, on the Jeep is on the front floorboards, where moisture got trapped between the mat and metal, however the floors are still very solid. The frame and undercarriage are MINT.
PAINTThe original paint was faded from the intense desert sun, so I had the factory blue paint resprayed. The shop used a high quality Sherwin Williams single stage enamel, and did a very very good (not quite perfect) job. Paint was done a year ago and is has been primarily stored indoors; still shines like new. I have taken exceptional care to immediately removing any bug splatter/bird droppings to preserve the finish, however driving the vehicle has caused some minor rock chips.
ENGINEThe vehicle has the original 258 cubic inch engine. I had the engine bored and machined by a local shop recommended by the hot rod community; It was only bored slightly oversize and still has plenty or material left for future rebuilds. Head was completely redone with new valves. I personally assembled the motor, strictly adheringto procedures and specifications described in the, included, Factory Service Manual. It is completely stock, save for a manual choke conversion. Repainted with the correct AMC Blue ceramic engine enamel. Zero Leaks. New mandrel bent exhaust with a "quiet" Flowmaster Muffler; Has a rumble but not loud or obnoxious.
TRANSMISSION/TRANSFER CASEThis Jeep came from the factory with a T150 3 speed transmission. I acquired a donor Jeep with a rare factory T-18 creeper 4-speed, and put in the 4-speed in using all factory components from the donor(no modifications, cutting, or welding) Transmission and transfer case were resealed and painted. The t-18 is a heavy duty unit used in everything from 3/4 ton trucks to school buses.
AXLESBoth the front and rear axles were rebuilt with new bearings, ball joints (front), and seals. Used Timkin bearings and Yukon seals, the highest quality available. As with the engine, I strictly adheredto factory preload, endplay, and torque specifications. The rear axle cover has a slow seep (one drip on the garage floor after a drive) that has gotten the best of me. Even with a brand new cover, still a slow seep. New brake lines, shoes, wheel cylinders, hardware, and drums. Almost-new BF Goodrich All-terrain tires, on classic patina'dwagon rims.
SUSPENSIONJeep receivednew BDS leaf springs, shock absorbers, and bushings. Sits 2.5" higher than stock.
INTERIORRare factory bench seat was recovered using Marine UV Resistant Outdoor Vinyl, upholsterer uses this on motorcycle seats, as it is the best he knows for resisting the intense desert sun. Everything on the dash works as it should, including all the heater controls. Rear cargo area is bedlined.
Jeep is located in Moab UT. Buyers in the past have had good luck utilizing u-Ship. Another possibility is to fly out here and drive the Jeep home. I prefer cash payment, but will work with you on other options if paying remotely- however Jeep does not leave until payment is 100% clear with my bank.
