2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport Description

Hi Thanks for looking at my 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport.

This car is very special to me. But my back is against the wall and I have to sell it. My dream of restoring it to its former glory has died.

So that is why you see it here on eBay (and craigslist) ...up for sale, in need of repair and TLC. It’s sad.

This car was my daily driver and served my family and I well since February 2010. It had 86,000 miles on it when I bought it and it was prefect. I am ashamed to say that while I cared for it the best I knew how while I owned it, it leaves my care in worse condition than when I bought it.

I was involved in a minor front end collision in 2011, which ended in a no fault decision ..even though I hit someone in the rear. They pulled out directly in front of me and stopped. there was nothing I could do. I had witnesses and thought about suing the driver but ultimately I cut my losses and moved on. The car was repaired, but since I paid for the repairs myself I chose not to replace the radiator support. It wasnt badly damaged so the repair shop straightened it. It isnt completely straight and that remains the only evidence of the accident.

About a month ago, while I was at work..someone brushed up against the passenger side in a parking lot and I never found the person. The passenger side has a few minor dents along both doors and the rear quarter. There is also minor rust along the bottom of the front doors and most likely both quarter panels. 1 quarter panel is exposed and the rust was cut out because I started to repair it and gave up.

In the photos you will notice Plastic molding around the bumpers is missing and 1 trim piece I have all of the parts in my garage.

There are too many new and newish parts to list here ...water pump, ac compressor (new not rebuilt) radiator (coolant is CLEAN ZERO rust) plugs wires, front shocks, brakes, drums, rotors, ...and more.

The interior is very clean and all there except the radio. Carpets were replaced about two years ago and still look really nice. The seat hardware was powdercoated black around the same time as the new carpet ...but it has developed superficial oxidation since then. Im not sure why.

I have personally changed the oil every 2000 - 2500 miles without fail since 2010. I am obsessive about it. The motor doesnt burn a drop of oil. It runs strong. And the trans shifts as it should. The transfer case is quiet and the 4WD works great.

The frame is solid. ZERO significant rust. There is some very light superficial rust around the rear of the truck but nothing even close to flaking or holes. Its a perfect specimen for a ground up resto. I failed to take photos of the frame….and I need to get this truck listed asap. If you want photos of the frame please let me know and I’ll send them to you. Or if youre local you can come for a visit. The floor panels look good with superficial rust. A few few small areas are beginning to flake but there are no holes in the floor and the rust that is there can be stopped and sealed no problem.

The MAIN reason I stopped driving it, is last week I noticed that I used a small amount of coolant over the previous 2 weeks. I looked into it and found out that the head gasket MAY need to be replaced. The oil looks good..its not milky..so it doesnt look like coolant is mixing with the oil yet... But there are no leaks in the coolant system. It has to be going somewhere. So I shut it down. And after some real soul searching, I bought another car and decided to sell the jeep.

Thanks for reading...i hope i covered everything. Please contact me with any questions or if you want to see additional photos.

Also, receipts are available for most of the work done while in my possession.
